This is a somewhat long post, just looking for suggestions.
I am a male division 1 cross country and track athlete and am looking for advice from anyone with similar experience.
Over the past couple months, my body completely "crashes" about every other week. This includes extreme fatigue, headaches, and almost complete lack of the ability to recover. I experienced a similar thing last summer as I was slowly building mileage, then again near the end of cross season.
I have had many blood tests over the last year, and everything returns normal except low testosterone levels and low ferritin (normal iron). I have seen doctors about my situation, and the only suggestions were to cut back on running - which I did by taking last track season off.
I am currently not even running that high of mileage, and do not know what I should do next. I have looked into "adrenal fatigue" and it sounds similar to my experience. I am now faced with the decision of taking another track season off or just running through it and hope it eventually fixes itself.
