Also a good week here. Mostly dreadmill due to very tight time constraints - shorter runs with high intensity.
Did get to the track Saturday for 7 x 400m with 60 second rest. Had planned 6 x 400m but kept hearing that TV commercial tag line - "One more..." so did a 7th. Glad I did.
Have a great week!
Ran my first ultra in 10 years last sunday. As many full laps as possible in 6 hours around an old landfill turned into a nice park in Davie Fla. (Vista View) Around 100 ft elevation gain/loss each lap.
I was able to keep running for 4 hours until the downhills completely wrecked my quads. Walk/jogged the rest and ended up with 38.5 miles in 5:51:00 for 2nd overall.
73°/100% humidity at the start & 80° and sunny at the finish.
Finally recovered enough by yesterday to do a decent hour run.
Big breakfast, now a little ten miler around the neighborhood.
Again ... Right at 50 miles with three good wt. days
Tues...mile of stride straights, jog turn (5:42), then 3(600,400,300,200). Held up well.
Go Seahawks!

6 weeks post-op ankle surgery for 2 osteochondral defects talus and navicular. Probably 13 masters years in spikes. Ain't done yet friends. Just gotta do two more months of postop rehab. Have 11 days pool running 45mins no floats or shoes and 22 days spinning 45-60mins in the bank. Enjoy your ability to run and toe the line while you can.
Hey Tony I'm pulling for Hawks today.

Was stuck in Cary at a hotel for meetings and didn't run at all. Will try and put in some miles this week. I've got to get back in the groove.
Howdy Masters!
Finally back in full swing after a long holiday break in Arizona. All the kids are training again which means some hard workouts for me. Ran two solid workouts this week; both 'steady' efforts that were too hard for steady work for me now…both at 5:20 pace for 3 miles. But my #1 HS kid is too fast for me now but I make the sacrifice :)
Besides that, the new year has been good to me. The body feels good; event bought I continue to get slower every year. Happy to be healthy!
51 miles total running this week with 1 workout and one race
Did 4 x 1 mile with 400 recovery and ended the week with The 3M 1/2 Marathon today (1:21:54). Pleased with the effort.

I little hick-up in training last Sunday, as I headed to the hospital with a kidney stone. Hurt like hell, but passed it without any pain. Just from the kidney to the bladder was incredibly painful. was the size of about two grains of sand, but non the less, don't want that anymore. They said it was attributed to extended dehydration, so basically years not drinking enough fluids.
Took Sunday off to get better, then jogged easy monday.
Tuesday right back at it, as i didn't feel any residual pain from the episode.

1/2 marathon today 1:41:36 2nd Female over 40. This was my first half since Sep 2012 when I tore my achilles and subsequently had achilles surgery in Oct 2012. It was really sore after but, a little ice took care of it. Will take tomorrow off. This was a planned marathon pace run and also was my longest run since 2012. I was pleased. Billie (p.s. Gary B, I'm not happy being 20 minutes behind you! Good job!)
Congrats on your recovery. Good to hear you are racing after that injury.
Been a little while since I've posted as my training has been hit/miss and uninspired but I think I can see the light for 2014!!!
Looks like a bunch of solid training going on for those on the thread...keep it up.
