I just watched some "Prison Life: Respect, Reputation, Revenge" documentary on msnbc. All I could think about was the fact that EVERY guy in these californian prisons were massive. Each one of them would have killed me in

Did the documentary mention that if sitting in a prison cell was a job, it would be one of the most common jobs in the United States?
With less than 5% of the world’s population, the US has around 25% of the world’s prison population, the highest incarceration rate in the whole world.
There are 1,570,00 inmates in state and federal prisons in contrast to about 1,530,000 engineers, 815,000 construction workers, and 1 million high school teachers in the USA.
The prison population here in Britain is 84,000 out of a population of 60 million and it’s much the same for the rest of Europe.
One of the major problems in the USA seems to be this mandatory minimum sentencing.
For instance, there is no way in any European or civilised country in the rest of the world would this poor woman still be in prison, most probably would not have received a prison sentence in the first place.
I am ok with putting drug dealers in jail up until the point we decide to legalize drugs.

So you only know what is on the inside of state and federal prisons based on a "documentary". Good facts.
I once went to Colorado Springs. It was a disappointing redneck town.
There are any number of prison documentaries on youtube. It is scary. Some gangs require their members have mandatory workouts to get big.
That's what he said.
umm... ever heard of Jordan Hasay?
What I don't understand is where they get the food to support such mass? I guess I don't understand how meals in prison work, but are they allowed as much as they want to eat? For instance, a lot of people doing strength work eat 300-400g of protein per day. Prisons... How??
Genetics, being a violent criminal puts a premium on physical prowess
I used to work for a prison supplier and people could order in protein supplements (UK)
Between (a) the rising cost of gym memberships, (b) the apparent ease of becoming jacked in prison, and (c) my increasing temptations to kill multiple letsrun trolls on a daily basis, I think that going this route would be very beneficial for me.
"Nutraloaf is a 'food product' composed of 'whole wheat bread, non-dairy cheese, raw carrots, spinach, seedless raisins, Great Northern beans, vegetable oil, tomato paste, powdered milk, and dehydrated potato flakes;' these ingredients are 'mixed and baked.'"
—Vermont appellate court brief, November 2006
results of one Nutraloaf taste test:
The mushy, disturbingly uniform innards recalled the thick, pulpy aftermath of something you dissected in biology class: so intrinsically disagreeable that my throat nearly closed up reflexively. But the funny thing about Nutraloaf is the taste. It’s not awful, nor is it especially good. I kept trying to detect any individual element—carrot? egg?—and failing. Nutraloaf tastes blank, as though someone physically removed all hints of flavor. “That’s the goal,” says (prison food supplier). “Not to make it taste bad but to make it taste neutral.” By those standards, Nutraloaf is a culinary triumph; any recipe that renders all 13 of its ingredients completely mute is some kind of miracle.
I ate two-thirds and gave up, longing for any hint of flavor, even a bad one. That night, my stomach’s rebellion against the loaf was anything but neutral. I felt so full and lethargic that I skipped dinner and the following breakfast. And let’s just say I finally had a lot of time alone to catch up on my letsrun website reading.
