So I use to run in high school and I was a 1710 guy and then went to college and picked up smoking and drinking. I quit smoking yesterday hoping to revive my run ng. How much effect will the smoking have on my future running success

Smoking is obviously terrible for your health in the long term, but as for running it really wouldn't effect you as much as you think.
Smoking will restrict your airways which isn't good, but everything would go back to normal within 24 hours after your last cigarette.
Congratulations on kicking the nasty habit, but don't expect the running to get that much easier.
I'm currently smoking about a pack a week due to some serious stress in my life, but I notice that when I stop for a few days my running goes right back to pre-cigarette days, so I think you'll be OK.

Yeah, that COPD doesn't have long-term effects. Right on, brah.
I think there is a dose-response here. How long did you smoke and how much?
I doubt there is an answer that works for everyone. The lungs are over-engineered for our bodies. Very light use should (intuitively) result in less damage. I also suspect that genetics play a role. I have little doubt that some folks will respond worse to smoking than others.
Good job on quitting smoking. Have a brother who smoked for a long time. Had a hard time quitting.
Female coach having affair with male runner. Should I report it?
If Daniel's and Pfitz are outdated..then where do I look for modern training plans?
