Having just watched Efraimson's WOW I would say she's in shape to destroy those track PR's. If her and her handlers do all the right things over next couple of years I think she'll quickly catch up to Mary Cain. She has a beautiful stride. It actually reminded me of Rupp.
NXN Baxter vs Efraimson vs Cranny: Best Matchup Ever

Let me know when anyone in this race runs 15:48 in high school, like the 29th place finisher of the 2008 race did.

No one is discussing how 2008 might possibly be better, except you. You bring up stats, and others have brought up more impressive resumes for this year's crop.
Look at page 1.
I don't disagree that this year's class MAY be better, but in my opinion, it isn't a no-brainer. Alexa and Brasovan BOTH ran 10:15. 2008 also featured three returning champions.
Agree to disagree in stance of 2008 vs 2013. I'm still very excited for this race, moreso than the boys' race. -

Certainly agree with that - boys race should be good, but not epic All-Time good (barring a breakout performance). -
Are you seriously comparing NXN 2012 to Footlocker 2008 with concern to course conditions?
I was there in 2008. If Mclaughlin had run 17:00, no one could have beaten her. They let her go. There was not a girl on that course going sub 17. They didn't have it in them. It's not like the USATF men's track 5k last summer where they closed in 3:54. Those girls were not running that fast at the end.
And how come you're so impressed with two girls beating a 9:52 3200 runner and ignore girls beating 15:45 (Cain) and 15:50 (Bates) 5k runners. I usually don't complain about the NXN course but this time I wish it was more like FL so you could see three girls drop 16:30s and respect what they are capable of. -
Do people honestly think Cain was at full strength last xc season, or that beating Bates in an early season meet is indicative of being faster than her at the end of the season?

No, moron. I'm saying conditions and tactics matter in regards to time in a competitive cross-country race (i.e. last year's NXN race was extremely slow yet featured a very competitive field.) -

Sisson ran that time in summer of 2010 not the fall of 2008.
Please let me know when Sisson EVER runs an 800, 1500, or mile as fast as Efraimson did as a sophomore in high school.

Do you honestly think any of the girls from 2008 or Bates could ever beat a marginalized Mary Cain?
Why is it that many assume Efraimson is closer to her peak at the beginning of her XC season than Bates? I don't understand the logic.
Watch Flotrack's WOW on Efraimson. If the distances are accurate that workout is mind blowing. -
Unless you have seen her beat Baxter the race you saw her in, which I know you didn't, your reasoning is goofy.

Baxter is going to crush the field. She made Cain her ****, and she'll do the same with these inferior runners.
I'm looking forward to this race but I'll disagree with the majority and say Efraimson wins. I've seen her race in person several times this year and I just don't think she can be beat.
Good luck to all. -
Will the race be shown on stream from somewhere? Would love to watch it.

So that video showed a "kick" from Cranny? lol.

The finish is between 4:33 and 5:00.
And here's one showing Cranny's kick.

Efraimson and Cranny are very similar runners. And that's what makes this race interesting to me. Not just a duel between a front-runner and a kicker but two kickers who will have to watch each other as well as stalk the leader.
I get Cranny's last 200 as 31.5 en route to the win and number 4 all time HS indoor mile. And she had to tuck in a couple of times on the curves because the leader was also running well and fighting her off.
A kick in my book. -

it was further away from efraimsons peak than it was from bates' though so I don't get why bates gets the advantage there -
Should be a great race hope Cranny and Efraimson both pick Oregon as well.
-
Most likely choice for Cranny.
-
I agree about Cranny i mean her coach Jason H did go to Oregon after all.
-
Wait i thought your were saying Oregon lol at Colorado she wouldn't have any fast women to train with.

Why would Cain not have been at full strength last xc season? Just a month or so later, she ran 9:3x for 2-miles. -

Because she lost to Baxter, presumably;)
No, it makes no sense to me, either... -

Cain was at full strength- relative to her previous XC performances. If it had been 5K on a track, she would have won handily. The mud was all the difference that day. -

Maybe, not "handily".
