at least under 21 minutes, I say go out at 630 the first mile and just try to grind it out at that pace as long as possible.

Ok. Thank you. I should have added that she did the workout on the track and the race is on the road. The course is a little hilly.
Her best time came in XC this year as a 22:32 but that was XC and it seems like she has really taken a turn for the better in the last few weeks. I've been out on runs with her lately and she seems a lot faster than even a month ago. I was thinking conservatively 21:30 but you might be right.
It's hard for me to believe but it might be true!
