Holy shit! Is this real? That makes him the fifth Mainer to break 4, so I feel like I would have heard about this.

Wow, looks like it was real and for some reason no one is talking about it in Maine. Crazy. Also found out that the third Mainer and only other Dartmouth runner to have broken 4 was none other than Ben True with a 3:59.99
Last year, Brown's John Spooney made the finals in both the 60m and 400m. He finished 4th in the 400m and then 7th in the 60m.
Yes, only the top 6 score at Heps.
Who knows if Bruno is strong enough to win that double... but in years past, Cornell has had enough sprinting strength that they did not need him to run both (Jedidiah Adarquah-Yiadon, who has graduated but won the 60m last year; now-senior Chris Bain, and Kinsley Ojukwu).
I don't know if Spooney will do that double again (he also has not competed yet this season). Yale frosh Marc-Andre Alexander might do both to give Yale some much needed points, but it appears he is stronger as a 400m runner, but who knows.
I believe John Spooney quit the track team at Brown...

Yeah, he's not on the roster, and frankly this does not surprise me at all. If he's trying to catch on in the NFL (I say IF--I don't know his situation), then he really is best served by preparing specifically for Combine Day. Slimming down for track--he's not terribly big to begin with--would be a bad idea. (And a typical sprint-training regimen *would* slim him down, like it or not.)
Same thing happened about 30 years ago with Joe Morris at Syracuse. He was a Big East sprint champ, but did not defend the title his senior year--he was preparing for the draft.
Okay, we've got some results from the weekend coming in.
Brown's and Dartmouth's marks appear on the Ivy performances list as of this post. A lot of *good* performances, but only a few that lead their events: the Big Green DMRs, natch, and Dunchack in the pent (
http://www.tfrrs.org/lists/1150.html
)
The results from Cornell's Kane meet are up (
http://www.tfrrs.org/results/31215.html
), but don't seem to show on the performances list at this time--although the Big Red seem to have held many of their heavy hitters out of the meet, anyway. Still no sign of Sorna yet this season, and Winkler hasn't shown in men's weight results since his one meet in December.
Please post links to meet results, as they come in. Thanks.
Okay, I did a virtual scoring for the men's Heps events. I might get one done for the women later today.
This is not a prediction, but just a snapshot of where the events list stands now. (The best recent predictions have come from fun., who looks at several seasons' worth of personal bests--I hope s/he will be doing one or two of those this season, too.) I believe I got the math and events right; if not, they're close.
I didn't allow for undoable doubles, or people who might have competed in December but then got injured or left the team, or the over-generous conversions that people get for their flat-track times; I just looked at the top six marks on the tfrrs site. Anyway:
Individual track Dartmouth 51, Harvard 46, Cornell 38, Columbia 37, Brown 36, Yale 29, Princeton 24, Penn 18
Individual field Cornell 101, Princeton 32, Harvard 31, Penn and Yale 8, Dartmouth 3, Columbia 2, Brown 1
Heptathlon Brown 16, Cornell 10, Princeton 5
Relays Yale and Dartmouth 18, Princeton and Cornell 14, Columbia 12, Brown 8, Harvard 5, Penn 1
Quick impressions
In the longer distances, neither Columbia nor Princeton is showing anything in the top six yet. That should change--the 5,000m list is particularly vulnerable--but won't hurt Cornell, which doesn't have a "scoring" mark now in anything longer than 800.
In contrast to the distancemen, most field-eventers have already been competing in their primary events by now. Here Cornell's lead is overwhelming, and IF the Heps were scored based on the current tfrrs list, Cornell could win the meet just with those field marks.
Most of the people who will do a heptathlon (before Heps itself) have posted a mark.
Relay action has been limited, and few marks (besides the fast DMRs) will hold up.
Combined "scoring" including everything but the relays: Cornell 149, Harvard 77, Princeton 61, Dartmouth 54, Brown 53, Columbia 39, Yale 37, Penn 26
Lots of fast times are likely, this coming weekend. The track-event lists, including relays, will change a lot.
Pretty much all of the meet results were available by yesterday morning. I looked through them and saw the following:
Columbia Invitational:
Columbia - Marvellous: 200m, 24.17, 3rd fastest indoor time
Columbia - Nadia Eke: TJ, 12.93m, 42-5.25, 4th best indoor mark
Princeton - Elizabeth Bird (FR): 1000, 2:52.95, event winner
Princeton - Allison Harris (FR): PV, 12-1.5, event winner
Columbia - Harry McFann, 800, 1:49.91, event winner, just outside all time top 10, bested former teammate Kyle Merber
Columbia - Rob Napolitano (FR), 1000, 2:25.84, event winner
Princeton - Ben Gaylord (FR), PV, 16-0.75, event winner
Princeton - Dre Nelson, 60, 6.79, tied-6th best indoor time
Dartmouth Invite:
Jahil Bishop, 200 22.74, 400 50.53, double winner
Kathleen Sprout (FR), 200 26.32, 400 57.96, double winner
Harvard Invite:
Danielle Barbian: 60, 7.52, tied for 5th fastest all time
Ashley Collinsworth: 60, 7.58, tied for 10th fastest all time
Morgan Uceny, 800, 2:04.85
Jackie Modesett (FR), HH, 8.58 in prelims, 2nd overall, 9th fastest indoor time all time
Regan Nizdil (FR), HJ, 5-7, event winner
Nikki Owelogu (FR), SP, 48-3.5, event winner, just outside top 10 all time
PSU National:
Dartmouth women - 2nd fastest all time, 11:02.21
Dartmouth men - 9:37.33, 6th fastest all time
Princeton men - 9:48.14
Janae Dunchack - pentathlon, 3796, season's best
Side note #1 - this is Dunchack's 2nd complete pentathlon this indoor season. Heps would be her 3rd. I think she's trying to get an NCAA mark since she is a senior. But looking at her stats, she usually does only 2 pent/hepts a season. I wonder if this will impact her attempt at a four-peat for pent titles.
Side note #2 - if it is true that Spooney has dropped track, then who would be the best bet at the 60m title? Would Bruno try the double? Princeton's Nelson got a good mark and new PR this past weekend, so a 60m win for Bruno would not be guaranteed.
Side note #3 - got a good feeling that we will not be seeing Martina Salander this indoor season (no confirmation from anyone from Harvard). I don't know if she's injured or is focusing on academics (she's an engineering major). Harvard seems to have some freshmen who have filled her spots in the hurdles and shot put in terms of point coverage, but they do not have a multi-eventer who could challenge Dunchack for the pent title.
Side note #4 - it is going to be so weird seeing low clearances in the PV at Heps. Pretty much everyone is at least a foot lower than what Weiler and Worthen could do.

Spooney has declared in mid-January that he would be available for the NFL draft.
http://bostonherald.com/sports/patriots_nfl/nfl_coverage/2014/01/2014_nfl_draft_early_entries_0Here's Spooney's draft scouting profile:
http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/dsprofile.php?pyid=129912&draftyear=2014&genpos=RBAccording to one newspaper, his choice of not competing in football in 2012 in order to focus on track might not help his recruiting chances as he has one less season of stats to support his cause AND only really has decent stats from this past football season.

My attempt at doing the women's scoring, but using the fun. method of using the last 3 years of personal bests for guidance. For a lot of the events (200, 400, 800, horizontal jumps), the PRs reflect more of the outdoor times. I did not include relays in this (but if I can add them in upon request). I did not pick which probable doubles/triples that multiple athletes could do at Heps, so I do have some of the top distance ladies doing the distance triple mile-3k-5k (which would be unlikely at Heps) and multi-eventers doing any events they made the scoring positions in.
I did remove one athlete, Tara Richmond of Columbia, from these rankings as there has not been any marks from her since the 2011 season. She is still included on the Columbia roster though, so who knows if she will compete with this being her senior year. This impacts the scoring of the high and long jumps.
Combined scoring:

Thanks, C/M! I did another "snapshot" of the tfrrs listings for the women. Same caveats as for the men, and I also ignored fractions. Totals:
Harvard 135
Cornell 103
Columbia 91
Dartmouth 85
Princeton 50
Brown 30
Yale 29
Penn 2
The relays (esp. 4 x 8) will change hugely, and the next two weekends will rearrange the distance lists, but this gives some flavor. Right now, Harvard just has too many guns and they have to rate as the current (narrow) choice to defend.
And I'm sorry to contradict you, but I think AD'A could (fairly) easily take the mile/3k/5k--and maybe run a 4 x 800 leg, too!--which could make the team scoring very interesting. But my real advice to everyone is to look out for Columbia.

Don't be sorry - if she did do that quad, I would be very impressed (she could win the open events, but Dartmouth does not have enough strong 800m runners to get the relay win, but they could get 2nd or 3rd). But I don't think that pulling off that quad would benefit anything in her long-term racing goals. It would only really benefit Dartmouth's team goal of winning a Heps for Coogan.
Columbia can definitely make this Heps interesting. Is Waverly Neer still healthy? She can help the Lions get some much needed points in the distance events.
Any word on Rachel Sorna? She's the defending indoor 3k champion and would be needed for Cornell to stay in title contention.

Haven't seen any results for her this season--and I haven't been able to find an entries list for the BU Valentine meet, but I doubt that she'd make her season's debut there.
OTOH the Big Red's Rudy Winkler is entered at the Armory meet this weekend. I hadn't seen any marks for him since December.

This weekend is going to be when some of the big dogs who have been resting are finally let off the leash. It will be interesting to see the difference in the TFRRS lists on Monday. Between Boston, Penn State, and the Armory, this is a big weekend for most teams.
Anyone know the official status of what events are going to be run at this year's indoor meet I know there were talks of eliminating the 500 and 1k and adding the 200 on the men's side

There will be no change to the Heps Championships' schedules this year. ADs did not vote on it yet.
