http://www.letsrun.com/forum/flat_read.php?thread=4066194Absolutely true, but in a significantly downhill race.
As mentioned above, the list where Eric Hansen appears as the international record holder is for track 5000 meters only.
This is the list for American boys' single age 5K road records as it appeared in 2011. The listed age 10 mark was 17:28 by one of the Garritsons. Link is no longer maintained by RunningUSA.

Solid, but would be surprised if the single-age record isn't quite a bit faster. Some of those times blow me away.
In 2012, as an 11 year old, he:
beat fastest 10 y/o by over 7 minutes - 42:41
11 y/o - 35:33 he won age by over 6 minutes - 2nd place was 41:50
beat fastest 12 y/o by almost 7 minutes - 42:31
beat fastest 13 y/o by over 4 minutes - 39:59
fastest 14 y/o was really impressive with a 33:38 but Tyler is 3 years younger and 2nd place was 37:01
Why does athlinks show almost no results for this alleged person?
Athlinks is not as good as it should. I haven't seen any updates on my races since February.

Returning the discussion from Tyler Scholl back to Xander Black (the original subject), this is his progression this year:
In late July he ran the 1500 meters at National Junior Track Champs. Time was 5:02, which got him 17th place in the age 11-12 division. I presume he competed in that division because he has a late 2002 birthday and competition is by birth year.
5:02 1500m converts to a 5:28 mile.
In late September he ran a road 5k in 18:42 or 6:02 mile pace.
Five weeks later he runs 17:45 5k, 5:43 mile pace.
Diego Estrada won the race in 14:03, so course seems legit.
If there is anyone out there who ran the race in the mid-17's and noticed this kid, would be interesting to get reports.
Wouldnt that make him 15 in 1988.....
No.
So will this kid run sub 14 Min 5k in highschool? If not his talent would be wasted.
When will this kid go sub 13?
Ummmmm absolutely true, for I was there and I train with Tyler EVERYDAY! Course was legit and so is he.

List is bogus as it doesn't have Wanjiru's 13:12 at age 17 or 26:41 at age 18 (not to mention a 59:16 half marathon as an 18 year old)
Did anybody notice this line:
8 3:00:39 Wesley Paul USA 25 Jan 69 New York NY 23 Oct 77
an 8 year old almost sub-3 hour marathon?? And I'm assuming it was at the NYC Marathon of all places (since it says it was run in New York NY)??
I mean he did go sub-3 the next year as a 9 year old...
Read the bottom of the page. It is not a bogus list it is merely a compilation from a non comprehensive list of countries.
