Explain to us why you don't have enough money to live the lifestyle you crave?

I really do not want to work, but if I retire now, I will definitely run out of money before I die. So I work and save for retirement.

I want a house on the french riviera, a nice sailing boat there, a house in the swiss alps, and a great place in the US. The house will be 4br, hacienda style, somewhere warm like san diego, with an infinity pool and open design. The car would be a restored 1954 chevy 3100, shiny red, plenty of chrome. The slower it goes the better, because I will have nowhere it particular to be. Most importantly I want all the time in the world to enjoy those things.

I also want a lab close to the house in the US. I can have plenty of time for the experiments and work at my own pace. I'd hire lab techs to make my solutions and do all my scut work. I'd devote my time toward nanotechnology in the bio realm, and also into tissue specific drug delivery systems. I'd also learn some engineering and tinker with some inventions.

The only way I could have this kind of money is to be a multi-billionaire. Millions could not pay for what I want. I need inherited wealth.

A physical debility cut me off from my preferred line of work, so I've had to take a lower-paying clerical job that I don't like.

I wish i had more money to buy nicer clothes. i dont have any money because im in school... i dont really need an smartphone or anything, i just like to look nice and most of the nicer clothes i have are getting a bit small

i'm in medical school.

I am currently 28, single, and working in a lower paying profession in education (not a teacher). The number one thing that limits my lifestyle is my college debt. My parents did not offer me a dime, although their combined incomes made me PELL ineligible. Shortly after my college years my father, who is a factory worker, became unemployed so no moving home, etc.

I also made some dumb decisions when I was young since I decided to borrow to go to school and major in something (political science) that has little direct market value (unlike engineering). I went to grad school in education and I enjoy my career (except for the pay).

I am looking into an additional job because I can't save anything (I also live in a high expense area --another dumb decision).

to summarize, I am not, nor may never be able to live the debt free, middle class lifestyle that I want. I want to be DEBT free so I have peace of mind and can save what I earn.

Because I am paying 400k in taxes/yr. Give me that 2 million bucks back to go with the rest of my savings and I would have plenty to retire. As it is I have to work another 5 years.

I spend $8 dollars a month on my old flip phone. There's over 200,000 miles on my car. I take home about 15% of my gross pay. I was the victim of a well orchestrated con. The con...get pregnant, get a guy to marry me, steal all his money, get divorced and live off child support for 18 years. That was her plan. That's what she did and she worked it to perfection. She was planing the divorce before she even met me.

my ideal lifestyle requires a Manhattan penthouse, a Miami mansion with superyacht and jet skis, and a huge country estate out in the middle of nowhere (Kansas or Oklahoma) complete with 400m track and airstrip for my private plane.

I would travel around the world, seeing the sights both natural and man-made like a modern Magellan and partying in the worlds greatest and biggest clubs complete with strippers and blow. I would go on a solo adventure in the Himalayas, and climb the highest peaks. When not adventuring, I would keep myself accompanied by a personal harem composed of at least 3 beautiful "escorts" to fulfill my every carnal desire.

I would attend Sothebys and Christies auctions in Dubai and Hong Kong, party in Monaco at the Formula One race, and place huge bets at the table games of the biggest casinos of the world in Macau.

Of course, such a lifestyle would require me to have wealth in the hundreds of millions of dollars...so for now I'll work at my boring job, browse Letsrun all day and smoke weed.

Knowing that there are some people in the world who live such a lifestyle and are born into/succeed in attaining such massive wealth crushes my spirit every day...but one can dream, right?

Why does it crush your spirit that people have succeeded in attaining such wealth? That should motivate you to do the same.

First you write - why don't you have enough money to live the lifestyle you crave?

Then later you write - if money is the reason

Really?

Money may be the reason you don't have enough money?

You did eventually ask - why don't you have enough money?

The answer for most would be they don't make enough money.

And that reason would maybe they weren't ambitious enough, or skilled enough or they had to dedicate time to other resources. Or they didn't ask for more money.

Other reasons are they they have certain necessary expenses that take way from fun money.

Like supporting others,.

Some will say taxes.

Well ..... that would be part of living the lifestyle you crave, wouldn't it?

I'd love to be filthy rich and donate money to deserving individuals. However, I'm neither smart enough or hard working enough to become that rich. (Could of course become a liberal politician, but I'd want to be generous with my own money, not stolen goods.)
