You're using a different muscle group. Using your quads more, more up on your toes, etc.. It should feel different than running on a flat surface
More quad + a shorter stride (naturally).

ok i get i might feel like i'm "more powerful" because i have to work harder to get up the hill. but i'm talking about very slight grades here...so why do i feel more efficient? it's hard to explain, i just feel smoother & like there is less wasted motion in my stride. less up & down motion too (i know, duh, i'm going uphill). so does this suggest i need to focus on getting my feet down quicker & shortening my stride?
