Great, that means all my buddies from my BOX (BQ-5) got in. Glad to see them represent America come April!
Last October I ran my first marathon straight out of college. I didn't really have a great college running career so I wanted to make a name for myself by proving I could do something other than racing 5ks. My qualifying time was 3:31:59. I ran only 3 minutes and 1 second faster than the qualifying standard. I applied for Boston just this Monday and got word that all 5,000 spots were filled and overflowing. What do you guys think my chances of being accepted into the race are?

With runners breaking the standards left and right, I expect them to change the standards once more.
In the end, it is still easy to qualify. Everyone can train to run a fast Marathon. If you want a real challenge, sign up for TOUGH MUDDER instead.
Tough Mudder, you might as well be in the Spartan race or Color me Rad or another one of the (Circus) Parade runs. Yes. I agree that the standards are too easy, but that will not prevent me from running my best. Last year, a respectable 2:53:44 at age 55. Slower runners do not phase me and to be part of this historic race for the last decade is a real honor.
