This is ridiculous. KIPROP SPLIT 2:18 IN HIS 3:27.
3:37-3:38. Which is not good. It's a start, sure, but how many times have we said that about Wheating in the past few years?
Hopefully Rowland can get him healthy next year.
One of the few who could (or could have) challenge Kiprop if healthy. He has that much talent. 3:30 in his first Euro 1500m after a long college season. Kiprop actually took quite a while before running 3:30.
Wheating is a god!

Kick a$$- I hope the big guy has made it back healthy, with some fire in his eyes. Common knowledge, he is a real goofball, and is rather proud of it no doubt. But when he was "on" in 2008 (when he made the Olympic 800 team), he was a vicious competitor.
He was never a "vicious competitor". He has always been a sit-and-kick type who is more talented than most of the other guys he toes the line against. That 3:30 a few years ago was a fluke and he'll never do it again. He is supremely talented, and has the physical tools to be a legit medal threat at 1500m, but it's pretty obvious at this point that he does not have the heart of a champion.
If he ever medals at a WC or Olympics, feel free to bookmark this thread and rub it in my face. Never gonna happen.
1:50 + 28 200 is like 1:47 for 800m...definitely nothing to write home about

Per IAAF Tables, converts to 3:39 1500m, and moreover, a 3:57 Mile.
http://bringbackthemile.com/athletes/detail/andrew_wheatingPurdy scale, which is close to the IAAF tables, converts it to 1:46.44 and 3:40.27. More importantly he placed quite well.
Got rid of vin. Now needs to find himself the track, grow up, and find himself a nice lady. With Andrew, that's asking way too much. Cheers!
Yeah Miles Batty! You beat one of the other finishers!
Lol, did someone just say this clown could challenge Kiprop if healthy? Wheating is one of the worst racers i've ever seen, and is Webb 2.0 in terms of mental toughness(or lack thereof).
Stick a fork in the guy.
Wheating is only 25. This is a good result for him on the comeback train. Challenging Kiprop is probably out of the question, but 3:29.75 is perhaps possible...
Perhaps the time wasn't impressive, but Wheating's finish certainly was. Entering the home stretch, he languished in 11th, then swung wide and passed every competitor save Robinson over the final 100m.
At the same time, he put himself in a poor position to strike. The replay shows he was boxed in by Ryan Gregson, who threw up his arms in surprise when Wheating crossed directly in front of him to swing wide.
He's still a talented athlete. Rowland - a capable coach - will work with him to improve Wheating's race tactics, as he has with Symmonds.
"Entering the homestretch, languished in 11th...."
Like I said, this is typical Andrew Wheating. The only difference is that he's not in top form right now and wasn't able to pull off the win. No matter what shape he's in, he'll sit-and-kick because he's a wet noodle with speed. He doesn't want to mix it up or test his limits. He wants to get the win expending as little effort as possible. In college, and early on in his pro career when he was healthy, this typically worked OK. Now that it doesn't anymore he's wilting.

Did anyone around here ever have an injury? They tend to slow you down. Really. You don't run as fast. You have to drop out of races. Rest. Boring stuff like that.
But Wheating showed himself to be a fiery competitor, mentally tough as they come, and the most promising US middle distance runner ever.
