I wonder if Olympic officials ever thought of switching the marathon to be a winter Olympics event? Besides the obvious weather benefits (unless it was freakishly cold) it would free up a lot of runners to participate in track events also. Personally I think having the basketball competition moved to the winter games would work out better. Shut down the league for a couple weeks (ala hockey) once every four years and that way it eliminates the extra play in the summer that it seems the players hate. That may be more of an American complaint than the rest of the teams though.
Anybody else think this would work or have any other suggestions.
