Nice to see Levins and Mo Ahmed in there with 3k to go!
Levins cut his hair??? It took 5000m before I could pick him out.
Great run from Mo Ahmed - #2 Canadian time all time or close.

Instead of ripping the commentators how about recognizing your continued bias and ripping of Rupp who was right in the race and finished 4th. I guess he deserved to at least be MENTIONED as a contender for the bronze unless you had the top 3 all as 100% locks.
You moron, I said that Rupp looked GREAT many times on this thread. In ALL CAPS to help out slow readers like yourself.
Better luck next time.
STREAM I NEED A STREAM NOW???? ANYONE HAVE A STREAM?
Disappointing race, lukewarm pace, horrible tactics. Kenya's 10k drought continues. Poor Tanui had to do the heavy lifting by himself. Something tells me the 5k won't be as tepid, though.
Hmm, not sure I follow the logic there. It may not be as FAST as in some recent years, but it is certainly as COMPETETIVE.
I really miss David Coleman :-(

Awfully easy for all of us who could not step onto the track with any of them to say "Ritz should have done X," or "Rupp didn't run hard/fast/smart enough." They did just fine, and I also take issue with the "not a strong field" comment -- these are the best in the world RIGHT NOW, regardless of what Lasse Viren or Paavo Nurmi might have done.
I agree with you and I don't agree with you. Rupp made some mistakes.
But, I am sure they knew there were was going to be some team strategy going on from the Ethiopians and the Kenyans, and that is why we say Rupp, Farah, and Ritz working together some. The next step for Rupp is trying to take it from further out, and still have the last lap he had last year.
no exposure to the sun though. most of the stadium is in the shade.
Yeah I think it's fair to celebrate Farah's Somalian heritage as well as his British nationality.
I hope people don't get too carried away with seeing the British view of athletics as being Foster's. We do tend to be less overtly jingoistic relative to the average American (but more covertly arrogant) in general.
Brendan Foster is like cancer of the eardrum. He's the Colin Jackson of distance punditry.

The American announcing is not nearly as jingoistic as it once was. Maybe in swimming.
Anyway, in the end, it is all entertainment.

anyone know if ritz likes the heat? if he does not, then he's still got a shot at the AR, an outside shot.
Please. Please stop. You Ritz fanboys are getting as bad as the Webb fanboys.

The logic isn't that difficult. The people running the 10k in the past 2-3 years are significantly lesser runners. It's not at all as competitive nor as fast. No one even breaks 27 anymore.
Ritz has historically performed well in the heat. I think his 9th place finish in the 2008 Olympic Marathon was one of his very best performances, despite everyone's apparent disappointment. And 6th in the Berlin WC in 2009 with 27:22 PB was also impressive. He's very consistent, just could never develop a kick to be a medalist. So yeah, I could see him going for a paced race to finally break 27 before he's done.

Fair enough and perhaps I am simply stating my view of the respective national attitudes. It's all entertainment for sure but Brendan Foster isn't entertaining!
Duck, I think you agree with me more than you think. No question, Rupp needs to do better on tactics (too deferential to Mo, perhaps?), and I agree he needs to try taking it from further out; I think he has more to give and perhaps does not yet realize it.
Bekele and Geb won in different ways and way faster for a reason. We all know the reason. And no one can run near those times anymore. Oh and there is a better test for epo now. Coincidence?? Nope
the Brits should thanking America (& sal)for training Mo and making him the runner that he is!
Thanks America!
Ouch, what happened to Derrick?
