Renny Waldron is a great distance coach in the US right now... I'm not sure why we have to put down one coach to praise another. The resurgence in American Distance running is because runners are doing more and COACHES ARE DOING MORE... the fundamental principle of "Strength is Speed" can be applied in many many ways.
Renny recruited Jenkins and put Jenkins on a path to do extremely well. Didn't he qualify for the 1500 NCAAs as a freshman. Look at the other qualifiers... Tell me "what school doesn't belong?" Further, the injury stuff is bogus. NU is a five year school. Redshirting is practical. For all of you that want to praise others, I want to ask "WHO ELSE RECRUITED JENKINS?"
yeah, Renny did. Also, have you watched other runners at NU that improved and were recruited? Please, someone tell me who else consistently recruited top regional HS runners in the Northeast without many scholarship dollars? Renny did it year after year. BTW.. NU is 50K per year...
I do not want to diminish any other coach or coach's accomplishments. Could Jenkins have gone anyhwere? probably... what does that tell you?
