I've noticed that this year there are a lot more Africans at the top of men's D1 cross country than on the women's side. On the men's side, most of the favorites (Lalang, Kithuka, Rotich, Chelimo) are Africans, and there's a whole slew of other Africans projected to be in the top 50 (Kipchirchir, Kibet, Erassa, Zeinasellassie). There aren't really any Americans who stand much of a chance of winning, and a huge percentage of the top 20 likely will be non-American, mostly Africans. On the women's side, Abbey D is the clear favorite, and almost everyone projected to finish near her is American, with only a few Africans predicted to make NCAAs. So, I have two questions. First, why are there so many more Africans on the men's side than the women's side, and could the NCAAs this year have fewer Americans up top than in any recent year?
