Yes, Harbour will write back almost immediately.
I still don't understand how it comes down to Baylor and UNT. They aren't anything alike.
Music major?

Baylor is a better school. That is where your decision should be made.
THIS. Your education will stay with you for the rest of your life. Choose wisely.

Todd Harbour is a very good distance coach and academically Baylor is leagues better than UNT, especially the excellent Honors program. Also, Baylor women's XC has had a couple of down years in a row, so there are opportunities there. My guess is if you write to Todd he'll immediately write back.
Total crap. They consistently get the Foot Locker talent, likely cause it's "academically a good school", and they consistently underperform. Probably overtraining. Guess that's what happens when you have a 1500m guy trying to coach true distance runners. Baylor would be on my short list of programs NOT to go to. Amazing how naive girls and their parents are, thinking it's "Baylor". Anyone who's watched the top programs for years knows how much talent is wasted there.
Then who would make your list of programs to go to?
Obviously there are problems with both UNT and Baylor.
Texas is going through a massive overhaul - by the way - why are we not talking about that? Is it not crazy that you can take a team to NCAA D1 Nationals, at a school not heavy on the distance side, and be losing your job?
TCU is terrible.
Houston is terrible.
Tech is a joke.
Well, the Baylor women managed to make NCAA XC Nationals seven years in a row (2003-09), so they must have done something right.

Yes, again, because they always get loads of Foot Locker talent (not hard to do when you're Baylor and devote lots of scholarships to distance), but they still manage to consistently underperform. They've got some ridiculously good talent right now, but girls who should be running 20-21 min. for 6K (ran 17-18 min. for XC 5K in high school), are running 22-23+ min.. They're like Texas Football- consistently get the #1 recruiting class and hyped up every year, but always come up short of expectations.
You are right, however, I would be weary of a coach who takes credit for things he did not accomplish.
Coach Burroughs is a New Yorker you idiot.
UNT is a great school and the girls team looks to be great as it has some great runners e.g. a 5/10km 16min/33min who has competed at World XC, a 4.14 1500m girl, and some low 10 steeplers, and then there are the slower Texan girls.
Burroughs by the numbers:
- 86 Individual Conference Champions in Cross County/Track & Field
- 36 NCAA Individual Qualifiers in Cross Country/Track & Field
- 28 All-Americans in Cross Country/Track & Field
- 12 Team Conference Champion titles for Cross Country/Track & Field
- 10 NCAA Championship podium trophies in Cross Country/Track & Field
- 5 Cross Country teams qualified for the NCAA Championships
- 5 NCAA Cross Country Regional Individual Champions
- 4 NCAA Cross County Regional Team Championships
- 3 Athletes qualified for Team USA at the World Cross Country Championships
- 2 Men's Cross Country "Conference Coach of the Year" honors
- 2 Men's Cross Country "Conference Freshman Athlete of the Year" honors
- 2 NCAA Track & Field Individual Champions for Outdoor Track
- 1 Women's Cross Country "Conference Coach of the Year" honor
- 1 Penn Relays Champion
What about Rice? How are they?
Are you getting an athletic scholarship to either of these? If not, go with the better school (academically), which would be Baylor.
As far as which has a better program, look for which can develop you. You should visit and ask questions.
Have you looked at CollegeScoutingReports.com.
They provide reports on college teams.
LOLing....Burroughs just got fired. They are looking for a new coach

Why was he fired?
I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that the UNT men's cross country team went from having a multi-year perfect 1.000 APR to receivinh a .667 this past report?
How is a .667 even possible? This drops their 4-year average below NCAA standards and soon they won't be able to run at NCAA Region or National Champs.
A big embarrasing black-eye for an otherwise fairly successful program.

If this is true it's crazy. Burroughs has done a great job over the past 2-3 years with that program.

Good point. Rice has some decent distance talent and coaching. Better academically than Baylor.
Unless you are looking to play jazz trombone, there is no reason to consider UNT over Baylor. From Baylor, you can go to any grad school in the country. From UNT, you can get a gig with Harry Connick Jr.'s band if you are good, but otherwise your options after graduation are not nearly as good.
