He was a 1:53ish kid a few weeks ago, and now two 1:51 towards the end of the season. He looked in control, ran smart...could we see a new PR in the finals?
Greer's heir apparent?

Not everyone cares about every trivial minutiae involving Oregon.

That is why there are other threads for unplayers like you.
This kid only committed a month or so ago, and then brought his 800 pr's down from 1.53.mid to a succession of 1:51's and maybe more.
Considering all the other recruits at that level committed months and months before...Duck fans could be seeing a fast advancing incoming mid distance recruit. Unexpected Surprise and good news.

Most people don't care what Oregon recruits are doing before they even start their college careers. If the kid had run 1:47 that might warrant a thread. As it stands, he is an outstanding high school runner but not close to being in the top few in the country. You don't need to spam the boards about every little thing that happens involving Nike U.
Dude, A Duck. Do you have a life besides spamming about Oregon runners? 1:54 is nothing to write home about. Please get a bias opinion.

Keep the focus on yourself, tweak.
This kid is a late bloomer this season and PBesting at a rapid rate late season. He's better then a lot of soph 800 runners on the Ducks already.
1:50.6
popping down from a near 1:53.
Now qualifying with an relax, windy, 1:51:46
winning his heat.
He's improving late.
Exciting.
Highly touted recruits like Cody Johnson out of CA CIF, who had been to the state meet as a soph and junior, got his full ride to Ole Mizz in Jan and then mailed in the rest of the year failing to make CA state.
A kid like Alec Smith peaking late in his senior year, and going for Juniors...when so many others have quit for the year and are off partying...good stuff.
If the kid can get under 1:50, he rank #2 varsity going in next fall.
So, it is a story to watch, egg head, cos he is improving late, coming on.
Last kid to do this as in incoming Duck...NCAA 1500 Meter champ, Mac Fleet.
There are at least 5 Duck watchers here, who are interested.
And if you can't enjoy the kids improvement...you don't like the sport.
As usual your missing the point. The point isn't nobody cares about his progress. It's that your forcing everybody to read it and spamming the boards. if you backed off the whole Oregon thing like a lot people wouldn't hate you as much. right now you're a very hated person on these boards.
another greer would be a 1:47 guy.
Huh. This is pretty interesting. I would have sworn that I opened this thread and read it voluntarily. Apparently, it was somehow forced upon me without me knowing. How does A Duck manage to force us all to read this threads like this? Amazing!

yeah my computer was being operated by some remote force this the Smith link opened; and then my head and eyes were locked in place just like Plato's Allegory of the Cave.I was forced to read it three times!

Must fight it...can't fight it...must open thread...aghgghhghghg...thump
Since when does anyone care about a 1:51 mid high school guy unles they are an underclassman?
You know if you work at it, you can improve your reading comprehension. You shouldn't feel mired at the elementary school level just because that's where you are now.

LOL. I also am constantly forced to read A Duck's posts. Of course, I am also constantly forced to read e Harmony's posts too. The difference between the two posters is that a. I usually enjoy reading about the Oregon kids, and how their program is coming along; b. I don't enjoy e Harmony's posts so much because they just seem focused on criticizing anything Oregon. It doesn't take a genius to know that e Harmony is the more disliked poster here.
If you don't like the post then why respond? You're all too focused on complaining about A Duck.
In an actual response to the thread...
Looking at Alec's times he's certainly an ugly ducking to a swan case as he didn't break 2:20 his freshman year in the 800. However running a 1:50.6... A 30 second improvement in 4 years. Who's to say he can't shoot for another 3-5 second improvement while training for a national powerhouse in the ducks? It would require a lot more work though.
From an interview it sounds like this is his first year training for elite competition.
On a side note: if you can't appreciate a guy who started out running mediocre times in high school, and then going onto being one of the fastest in prep you seriously don't appreciate the sport.
Good Luck, Mr.Smith.

Is this kd a junior in high school? Sorry bro, I'm high as f*ck.
Kenyan and Botswanan teenagers are running 1:42. We're supposed to care about a 1:51?
A Dork, you would faithfully report on the sun rising in Oregon as if it's a unique Duck phenomenon. Zzz.
ps "Unplayer"? Where do you get this stuff? You're old, guy. You sound old. Trying not to makes you sound pathetic and old.

You can't read, the kid has been busting PR's like clockwork late season, he's run 48. for 400, last year, and he's run 1:50.X in the past two weeks, he ran smart and advanced.
He was a very late commit to Oregon, and his late breaking PR's is of interest to Oregon Fans, if you don't like the thread title, buzz off.
As several have pointed out, no one is twisting your arm to open the thread or comment.

You really need to work on your hate more, Salad-tosser.
