I'm trying to reformat my diet because I am dealing with acne issues that are getting worse and I don't want to lose weight purposely at all but I'd just like to tone up my physique a bit. I have some stomach flab although i am 5'6 130lbs. I just know i could accomplish a lot more if I felt more fit and had a better frame to run more efficiently.
I know carbs are important for running. However I am thinking about going gluten free for the acne. I am dairy free already. Can I still train well with low carbs (or at least I have to stay away from wheat and starchy stuff). Any thoughts?
Can anyone recommend a couple breakfast, lunch and dinners to eat? Also snacks for a pre-run and post-run please?
I currently am eating Corn Chex cereal for breakfast which is gluten free and it tastes pretty good. I eat a banana with that. I drink a lot of water.
I need better options for lunch and dinner. Recently I've been eating like 3-4 peanut butter jelly sandiwches which isn't good because the bread way too many carbs and the peanut butter and jelly has sugar and crap in it that I think it causing some acne.
Dinner is a crapshoot, I need ideas for that also.
I really want to get healthy because of acne and also I just want to feel stronger and more efficient. Please help! For reference, I am currently in 17:30 5k shape coming off an extended break and I'm hoping to get around 15:40 5k shape late August (I ran 15:35 a year ago, and 16:15 7 months ago).
Any gluten free/paleo runners out there? Or just nutritionists that can give me some tips.
