OK, before I get flamed, yes, I do know where the search option is, and I've used it a lot to find the answers I'm looking for and have had no luck.
I need to lose weight - call it the "getting back out there" incentive.
I'm 45, have run one 4 hour marathon, two years ago, firmly a hobby jogger, never ran at all until I was 41 (though played rugby for 20 years, so have a naturally big frame), at my absolute peak, ran a 61 min 8 mile and 29 minute 4 mile - haha I hear you studs cry !!
I'm a long way from even that now. Been running 5 days a week for the past month (35 miles this week and last), and all I want to do is to lose weight. I'm not interested in squats, press-ups, weights or any of that other gym rat stuff though I realise it would increase my metabolism and probably help. I like running, and hate the gym.
I'm 5'11 and weigh, probably 210. I could do with dropping 20 but more likely 30 pounds.
So, this is my proposed plan :
Mon - day off
Tue - 1 hour at MP
Wed - 30 mins at MP minus 1 min per mile (ie hard tempo run)
Thur - 1 hour at MP
Fri - day off
Sat - 1 hour at MP
Sun - 2 hours at MP + 30 secs per mile (I did that this morning and feel fine this afternoon)
Any constructive advice gratefully received. Thanks guys.
