When I was younger I used to enjoy the anonymity of the hotel in a different place, for a lot of the reasons previously stated. Now, I don't look at things so existentially, and they seem a bit depressing.

I spent 183 nights in a hotel in 2019 (and 121,000 miles in the air). Gotta say I didn't miss it as much as I thought I would in 2020.

I used to be like that too. Based in Bangkok but travelled throughout Asia. After about 7-8 years it was getting to me plus the kids were getting older and I was missing too much stuff. When the internet got up and running in the late 90's that did reduce travel a lot and even more so in the 2000's. Now I'm down to a much more manageable 25-35 days a year (pre-covid) and I'm thinking that this can be reduced even more going by how things have changed over the last year.
