That performance would have been close to 6 figures if he was currently wearing the Hansons-Brooks Jersey. Come on Kevin and Keith step up and take care of the Michigan boy.

Nike has once again miss judged the athlete.
Seriously! They've got the doe. So why not shell out some bucks for the guy?
green and yellow shoes...and throw in one of those hats
Maybe Deer Stags can pick him up to run in their shoes and create a custom line for him a la Skechers and Meb.

This is a good idea.
C'mon shoe and apparel companies -- this guy is someone real runners root for.

Don't you think Hartmann should first express interest in joining Hansons before they "step up?"

He would have to want to move to Michigan to be part of Hanson-Brooks. My bet is Hartmann has no desire to do that -- I'm sure they'd take him if he wanted.
When is the last time that the guy that finished 4th at Boston came up in water cooler conversation? Especially one that didn't run particularly fast... In the year after the olympic games, you have to do something pretty spectacular to garner a deal.
Well, he's a productive USA runner who is being talked about around water coolers. That's a decent reason to give the guy the budget/facilities/coaching/opportunity to improve.

i loled.
For newcomers, this is an intentional reference to a now deleted and wonderful thread, "deer adam goucher."
Also, There are other runners with lesser/equal performances who have world-class support...I don't have to explain what that could mean for a fully-supported Hartman, do I?
Dear shoemakers- I bought sketchers for absolutely no other reason, but because it sponsors Meb.....

I bet they're devastated.

Is this a case of Hartmann not getting any offers from companies, or is he holding out for more than companies think he's worth?
Fourth at Boston two years running is impressive. But does he have enough exposure in other major races to justify a contract? He didn't have a great OT marathon, and his PRs are good but not great. He's in that weird position of being a very solid runner without any name recognition. Sure we know him on Letsrun, but your average runner doesn't know who he is.
I'm surprised that another company hasn't made an offer, but that seems to be the way things are nowadays. Big deals for the very top guys, free shoes and gear for local age group heroes, and nothing for those in between.

beauty eh
I never see deer wearing shoes, not ever. So I'm wondering, how do deer shoe makers stay in business? Something's missing.
Why not just give Pete the money directly - skip this middle man Hartmann.
