He is done.
He is done.
happy valentine's day
Along with the police stating that there were previous incidents, neighbors heard arguments earlier in the night. She was also shot 4 times. It looks conclusive..l
How does one accidentally shoot someone 4 times? This is really sad, I was looking forward to seeing more of his running.
From Reddit:
This profile in the New York Times does paint a certain unflattering picture of him and guns:
"Pistorius lives in the house with a friend from high school, an engineer who moonlights as a mixed-martial-arts fighter. Pistorius had recently broken off a relationship with his longtime girlfriend, though another young woman was visiting when we got there. As he put together lunch for all of us — fruit smoothies, breaded chicken fillets he pulled from the refrigerator — he mentioned that a security alarm in the house had gone off the previous night, and he had grabbed his gun and tiptoed downstairs. (It turned out to be nothing.)
. . . “We should go to the range,” he said. He fetched his 9-millimeter handgun and two boxes of ammunition. We got back in the car and drove to a nearby firing range, where he instructed me on proper technique. Pistorius was a good coach. A couple of my shots got close to the bull’s-eye, which delighted him. “Maybe you should do this more,” he said. “If you practiced, I think you could be pretty deadly.” I asked him how often he came to the range. “Just sometimes when I can’t sleep,” he said."

In retrospect, jumping out of the closet in a skimpy negligee to surprise Oscar on Valentines Day was not such a good idea.
Apparently it was a gun in his pocket
This is crazy reading:
In an interview with the Daily Mail in August 2012 at his home in Pretoria, it was reported that the 26-year-old kept a "revolver at his bedside".
The article added that he also kept "a machine gun by his window" and "one baseball bat and one cricket bat behind his bedroom door".
While the home, described in the article as "a bachelor pad", is on a guarded estate, the weapons were necessary due to "this being South Africa".
"...and one day getting home late from work I come in to find her on the coach."
How did I end up in the Toledo XC thread??

Tip toed? Right off the bat you can see he is lying.

Police spokesman Katlego Mogale said a “26-year-old man had been taken into custody for shooting a 30-year-old woman”.
Whilst there is some protection in SA for this alleged eventuality, the 'shooter' must feel that their life is being threatened. It may well be the case that, legally, he doesn't have a leg to stand on.
EXCELLENT!!

But, if theres somene in your house why on earth are you shooting before you even try to see who it is?
Sounds crazy.
Crazy? CRAZY?!
You shoot first and ask questions later. Didn't you get the memo (from the NRA) ? If not, it's right in the owner's manual.
Oscar is tough. He'll shake this off and move on to the next target.

wow.
This whole story is shocking. I mean, what were the odds that a gun nut would end up either killing someone he knew or end up dead himself?? This never happens. One in a million chance. I think the problem was the woman wasn't armed. If she had been, this whole thing could have been avoided.
"South Africa has some of the world's highest rates of violent crime, and many home owners have weapons to defend themselves against intruders, although Pistorius' complex is surrounded by a three meter high wall and electric fence.
In 2004, Springbok rugby player Rudi Visagie shot dead his 19-year-old daughter after he mistakenly thought she was a robber trying to steal his car in the middle of the night."
It would be all over for me if I did something like that... I would have used the gun on myself shortly thereafter. Don't think I could live with myself. Over a car. Ugh.
Very sad indeed. She looked like a hotty from the picture in the link as well. Very sad.
IAAF is happy with this news! They no longer need to tiptoe around him and the controversy he brings with his legs being an advantage in the 400m.

Oh god his career as a track runner is over. Think about whenever he has to hear the pistol shot before the start of the run...
That wasn't me.
I understand Clint Eastwood has already picked up the movie rights to the Pistorius story.
It's going to be called "Convictus".

This thread will devolve into a pro/anti gun control debate that has virtually no chance of changing anyone's mind in 3 ... 2 ... 1 ...
As a staunch advocate of reasonable gun control, I will say that this story has nothing to do with gun control. It's a heinous tale of spousal abuse.
Remember the OJ rule: If a woman with a history of being abused is found dead by violent means, then you know the abuser did it. It only gets complicated if she's had multiple relationships with abusers. But even then, it narrows the list of suspects considerably...
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
