Pre won in Spokane... I know it is chic to dis Pre's accomplishments in hopes of not appearing like a DyeStat groupie, but show me any evidence that would indicate Pre would lose to Cusack. I dont believe Pre lost a college distance race post freshman year, so really there is none. Pre proved he didnt have to run from the front and could take out the overambitious in Spokane, so really, no matter the runner, if it was in an NCAA sanctioned race, Pre probably would beat them.
Pre holds no American records... Dathan will be better... he choked in Munich... whatever, the guy won and ran times that, within percentage of the at the time world records) make him still the best US distance runner in history. Meb was 50 plus seconds on the world mark, Bob was 14... look at things comparatively and realize Pre deserves praise, even if high schoolers give it blindly.
