Anyone else think George Clooney, Brad Pitt, and Matt Damon were busy cleaning out a casino's vault during those 34 mins?
Quite possible. Either that, or the I.T. guy is sneaking out with the stolen dinosaur embryos.

no i was thinking about what was going on in the superdome the last time their was no power in New Orleans!
It was the price we paid to make this ‘the greenest Super Bowl’ ever!
“To make this the greenest Super Bowl, the New Orleans Host Committee has partnered with fans and the community to offset energy use across the major Super Bowl venues.
The exterior of the Mercedes-Benz Superdome features more than 26,000 LED lights on 96 full-color graphic display panels, designed to wash the building in a spectrum of animated colors, patterns and images.
The system draws only 10 kilowatts of electricity -- equivalent to the amount of energy used by a small home -- and the lights are expected to last for many years before needing replacement.”

Anonymous?
Anonymous is not that good. The superdome isn't a website, it's a system run by invincible UNIX which you can't hack without root privileges.
It was because FEMA's still in charge of the SuperDome.
Roger Goodell thought the game was getting out of hand so he kicked the plug out of the wall.

the electric utility system is much more low-tech and electronically unwired than you might think... i doubt it was hackers as much as it was aging equipment and inexperienced workforce
There was an article on NPR yesterday covering the hacking of NY Times and other media outlets. They had a security GURU describing other attacks they have experienced. He described how hackers were able to hack into a thermostat. I think they could get into a electrical grid if they wanted.
You are so dumb. If hackers got into the electrical grid they would get electrocuted and DIE. Why would they do that?

I thought of this as soon as it happened. Of course, I choose not to sit around posting on Letsrun all the time. Glad to see someone else thought of it.
Whole thing was a big commercial for Duracell.
I had the same thought. Silicon Valley Niners fans hacked the lighting system. Also, a Niners game was blacked out earlier this season as well. Interesting.

and don't forget "he would feel no remorse about it"
they could only do that if the thermostat was actually controlled remotely, with some existing connection to the outside world... the grid is run by the local utilities via a closed intranet. in order to control anything they'd have to be physically there (not impossible, but unlikely - this would make much bigger news)
Such a shame Beyonce couldn't entertain us with her live miming during those 34 minutes.

WOW THAT WAS HARSH
Someone threw an EMP grenade (black ops 2 reference). Anyways, I think the 49ers figured their s*** out during the half hour time out while the other team got too relaxed.
my thoughts exactly!
