I believe she was dropped by Nike after the 2000 Olympic trials where she had a dehydration issue.

It looks to me like she has an extra toe on her left foot???
I find no mention on the internet of MF and extra toes.
I don't believe those are really Melody's feet.
She needs to flip her socks inside-out, as well as get her shoes fit by an expert.
Thanks for posting that. I remember when Melody won the Bolder Boulder women's citizen race a couple of years in a row at 15 or 16. Hard to believe 22 years later that record still stands. The girls high school outdoor record is only about a second faster. If I remember correctly, she never did much in College. I think her coach over trained her. Kind of a female Fernandez.
That's pretty disgusting. She needs to get bigger shoes or different shoes because that's not suppose to happen no matter how many miles she may run.

Well, she was NCAA champion at 3000m, and after that made a world championship team.

I don't think the bone structure is from running - it's from heels and whatever other bad shoes she has worn for 20 years.
This. Many women her age have bunions or nearly have bunions. It's very common and has nothing to do with running and everything to do with high heels and pointy toed shoes.

I think you meant Funions? Funions taste good.
You sound like you are forcing yourself to run in Nike, when you could use a different brand that offers a roomier toebox.

I have had lots of trouble with black toenails. For me, the problem is that I have a skinny heel. The only shoes that I can wear are very narrow. But, my foot is not that narrow (width is measured at the front of the foot along the metatarsals). So, I end up with shoes that do not have a lot of room in the toe box because those are the only shoes I can wear that do not let my heel pop out. If I lace up just a smidge too tight before a big long run or a race, I will end up losing a toenail. I suspect that people who never have this problem have normal sized feet and get a proper shoe fit every time.
