- NYC Marathon start. can't blame these guys though, especially after being fenced in like cattle for 45 minutes standing around before the starting cannon was fired.

IIRC they moved one of the lower level staging areas because the urine from above ran down through a expansion joint and rained down on the waiting masses.
I see an environmental impact study on bridge degradation in the offing. Leading to increased service fees for permits to hobbyjog the VNbridge.
Will we see triathlon level fees in the near future? The race has political stink on it now. The city will be taking a long hard look at the bill for sure. Remember "You're only as good as your last success". I doubt there are many viable political chips left in the NYRRs bag after this one...or anyone willing to accept them at face value down at city hall.
No one cares.
if somebody brings his dog for a walk on the marathon course and the dog relieves himself it is considered cute. If a marathoner lets it all hang out and urinates on the course somebody calls the police.

I know right? Its like how a dog, or any animal really, can just walk around naked, but if I do it I get arrested! Seriously wtf

Not in New York. I think they are under orders not to intervene.
I'd rather pee on the Verrazano that in Brooklyn, in front of 1000,s of people.
Plus there are plenty of porta-pottys at the start and in the holding areas.

Wrong. Peeing over the side of the bridge actually makes sense (as you point out.) It is the guys who take a leak on your leg while in the starting pen that I would like to choke.
How complex and nuanced the cultural icons of a generation can become!
Nice slice of life shot giving me yet another view on this odd human family of mine .
thanks
and thanks for lets run mostly letting this odd subgroup of humans called runners to... well... to be human.
peeps in NY are too wimpy to get involved to stop peeing. it's not Nebraska. NY is full of WOPS, Greasers, Micks, Spics, Chinks, Negroids, and Z i o n i s t a s ;=)
Just pee on the Central Barrier.
I went out at 7:00 pace and there was a guy ahead of me with a stream oscillating to his left and right. He was seriously going sub7 min pace while urinating.
I had to pee so bad in bed-sty I pulled off just off the sidewalk and all these orthdox jews were walking back from church. They really humiliated me.

I thought Jews went on Saturday. Isn't the marathon on Sunday?

Can you imagine a whale taking a piss? Gallons of urine gushing out into the ocean? And the fact that it's only 0.0000000000000001% of it's total volume?

I think that was the first thing on everyone's mind when reading this thread.

- apparently NYRR has no port-a-loos along the race course in Queens.
No one did this year!
