That college kid is now home stroking it while thinking of the day he'll pay for an hour with Hasay.

You raise an interesting point. I was thinking the same thing after thinking about the role that female athletes are placed in. SFH was America's darling (sponsorships, modeling, calendars, Nike commericals, etc). look at the attention Lolo Jones got in the Olympic buildup. Sex sells.
I worry about our US female runners who see that this is the only viable path available to them to support their post collegiate running careers. I think back to the stir that Anita Siraki caused with her photos that she released following her collegiate career. I would hate to see Jordan Hasay feeling like that is the only way she can develop post collegiate sponsorship attention.
With the advent of the internet, Hasay's name may be even bigger.

I don't remember any photos of Siraki... which ones?

I tried to put it in perspective for him. The only thing I could think of was Hasay. Hamilton was that big right? Even bigger right?
Hasay is no where near the level of Suzy Favor as far as NCAA titles and looks.
If Sally Kipyego looked like Zoe Saldana and then sold her body you would have a good comparison to put in perspective for the young kids.
They can use IAAF stats and they can use Google.
Hasay ran 4:10. SUZY ran 3:57.40...the second fastest American woman ever and barely behind Mary Slaney.
Suzy's looks are similarly on a different plant from Hasay.
I would hardly call SFH "unbeatable".
I think the best equivalent would be jenny simpson - collegiate champ, success on world stage but some flakiness, america's sweetheart sort of thing...until she turned 40.
In college, she was just about unbeatable ... in fact, I think the Hasay comparison is poor because Hasay gets beaten often. Suzy hardly ever lost at anything while at Wisconsin. She was Big Ten athlete of the year three times; that award goes across ALL sports. I think you have to be at least 35 years old to comprehend how good she was in college.
Anita Siraki photos?? Pics are needed here

.
Slaney had quite the reputation herself. the difference is that she was free.
