I've had my Garmin 205 for almost 4 years now. Great battery life, huge screen, all those features, great. Probably $140.
Timex Marathon GPS. Under a 100 bucks. Good reviews on Amazon.com. Relatively small size.
Get the Nike gps. It is about $150 and does the job well.
Timex Marathon GPS and the Soleus GPS 1.0 are both under $100.
Some reviews here:

I'd probably go for the Timex, but in the review they say that Timex and Soleus both went to the same Chinese watch maker and sourced the same reference GPS unit, so maybe not a lot to choose between them.
I'd go for the nike one. I've seen plenty go on ebay for 100 give or take 10.
The Garmin FR60 isn't GPS, but the foot pod is pretty accurate if you wear it in the exact same location on the shoe for each run. The bundle (watch, HRM strap, footpod, and ANT stick is about $100. I think I paid $80 for mine a year ago. You do have to calibrate it at your normal running pace, but after that, it's accurate.
i paid $60 for the soleus. i like it, although I don't use it too often.
i measured a 1,000 meter straightaway on a street near my house with a measuring wheel. i remeasured with the soleus and got exactly 1,000 meters.
I can't keep track of all my workouts, chart routes and change in elevations, upload to computers, etc, but why do you need to do that. I was going to throw a bad joke in here, but won't.

I have this, can't run without it. No issues at all, except for the band is breaking...will need to go to walmart and find a replacement for $5.
I just lied, i have a Forerunner 305. I don't know what the differences are but it is awesome. I didn't do any research on these, i got mine as a gift about 2.5 years ago.
I've got the Soleus 1.0 ($100). It's very accurate and relatively small. It's perfect if all you want is time/distance/pace.
The cons:
It can take anywhere from 30sec to 5min to find satellites (it does keep the signal once it finds them though),
it only displays current pace and not average,
the numbers can be kind of small to read at a quick glance
