No ~ None....I'll take a shoe from the 80s any day over some of the crap they are making today. 80s Pegasus, Asics Gel-Lyte. Take me back.
I have to say for a regular cushioned shoe, I don't think there is much difference at all. I ran in Nike for years. I am now running in Brooks. Really the only reason is that they are very similar and I just didn't like how the new nike product looked.
I bought some Saucony Jazz originals recently, purely for fashion purposes, but tried them out on a run anyway. They felt horrible to run in. Very high off the ground yet stiff sole, I think the only cushioning was in the sockliner. Really heavy too.
I started running in the earliest 1st generation Nike Pegasus in 1984. I used to get close to 1,000 miles per pair. The early air wedge midsole was taughted for that very thing. Retain cushioning longer and not breaking down as the old EVA foam did. I never had any injuries for several years. The air wedge is the only innovative addition Nike ever made to a shoe, everything else has been a gimmick. Now, I can't seem to get over 400 miles on any shoe before They're too worn on the outsoles. If shoes last too long, the won't sell as many. Didn't take them long to figure that one out.
