I'm a high school kid looking to walk on to a mid to lower level D1 program. What should I be expected to run for 8k if I want to walk on?

What year are you? What are some of your times? There is a huge range of "mid to lower level" DI schools. There are many DIII schools that are just as good.
An 8k range for these "mid to lower level" schools could be anywhere from 26:00-29:00. Or slower. It all depends on the school, the coach, and how much support the team has. Some teams have at least twenty runners on their team. Others might only have 10.
Don't be afraid to look into DIII and DII schools. Some of these are honsetly just as good as some of these DI schools. That being said, do you have any particular reason to walk on to a DI school? Do you have any schools in mind? I'm sure people would be able to give you better estimated times if you have something more specific, in terms of schools you're looking at.
