Hi,
This is my first post on LetsRun. Looks like an awesome resource!
I'm a senior in high school this year and looking forward to track with goals of going sub 4:15 in the 1600 and sub 9:20 in the 3200 - Also looking for a 1:57 in the 800 (which I will primarily run as part of the 3200 M relay)
My PR's for various distances:
800 - 1:59 (May 2012)
1600 - 4:27 (May 2012) - during conference meet
3200 - 9:51 (May 2012)- during conference meet
5K - 16:28 (Fall 2011)
Half Marathon - 1:18:28 (Fall 2012)
I did not run XC this fall due to an eligibility issue but now am training for track, yet instead did a half marathon.
In the spring of 2012 was running about 45 miles per week and now I have been running 55-60 miles per week since the start of summer.
I am on a 2 week cycle with one day off every 14 days. Typical week right now (schedule staying constant through December):
**My runs typically are between 7:00 - 7:15 average pace
Sunday: 13 miles (long run - I'm planning to get this up to 16 miles by January)
Monday: 10 miles
Tuesday: VO2 workout (5-6 mile progressive cutdowns, Fartlek, Tempo run, etc...)
Wednesday: 8 miles
Thursday: 10 miles
Friday: 8 miles with accelarations in the last mile
Saturday: Another VO2 Workout (something other than what I did on Tuesday)
I am looking to begin incorporating some basic weight training twice a week and also core strengthening twice a week.
If I continue this type of training plan, gradually increase my long run distance, and begin incorporating more speed work in Jan. and Feb., are these reasonable goals to achieve by May 2013?
Input is appreciated! Thanks!
