Just a little bigger, 300 lbs, but deadly...

All this guy has to do is bite and not get killed and wait for the bacteria to kill the attacker.

How about you go and tell the Crocodile, Polar Bear, whatever, to *just wait*
An oldie but a goodie: (and somewhat relevant to the discussion at hand.)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LU8DDYz68kMThe other thing about the Komodo Dragon is that it's a monitor lizard. It's build a lot stronger in the limbs than a crocodile. I don't know about a polar bear, but it's leaner anyways and has a tail it can use to build space. Would the largest Komodo dragon win vs the largest bear or Croc? No. However, there have been fossils found of much larger monitor lizards. If of comparable size don't bet against a dragon.
The tiger is a mysterious cat. I've heard of them killing Brown Bears for food, too. I wonder how big of a bear a tiger will eat though. Seems a large Siberean tiger could wait for the right moment to run off with a bear cub and not even have to fight. Or if trying to kill a large bear, sneak up on it as if a prey animal. In a face to face fight, a Tiger is really more of a boxer than a fighter I understand. It uses its speed and reach to avoid injury. The more the other animal attacked, the more likely the tiger would get in a good swipe, and there is nothing that can catch a tiger that can also outfight it.
good list, due to size I would put great white over croc and maybe hippo

I changed my mind. The polar bear should be number two. Its faster and has great agility than the three above it. More weapons too.

I'd put my money on a giant squid if we're talking about a water environment.
A polar bear in the path of millions of vicious driver ants would turn and run. So would a rhino.
The grizzly bear is a 100 lbs or more smaller than the polar bear but it is more ferocious and a much stronger and better fighter. (The Polar Bear is weighed down by much fat)
The grizzly bear beats hippo, rhino and Polar Bear. In fact the Grizzly scares the hell out of the Polar bear. Polar bears run from grizzlies much smaller than themselves.
True.
I'll list not by who would win a fight- because we know the better fighter often is bested by size, choice of battle ground or cunning and subterfuge- but by fighting ability.
polar bear
moose
tiger/smilodon
GWS
Cobra
There are several types of Rhino in the world, some of them not so big as the African varieties.
Pretty sure Tigers could do some damage to the Sumatran or Javan Rhino types. At least when there were Tiger on those Islands.

Oh for crying out Louie!!!!!!!!!!
We're talking about full size beasts here. FUUUUULLLL SIZZZZZZEEEEEE!!!!!!
Even I can take out a rhino if it were in miniature animal cracker size....stupid.
Enough, you fools... how many times do I have to mention that unstoppable hordes of driver ants can send any animal into flight, including
rhinos
tigers
polar bears
other bears
anteaters
lions
squirrels
honey badgers
king cobras
and every other animal mentioned on this thread. None stands its ground before a column of flesh-devouring army ants.
Here is the well-armored crab, trapped and eaten alive by army ants

the ants can do that to any creature of any size - all flee before the mighty army ant.
Some people in this thread came up with Gorillas. Wouldn't they be advantaged compared to other listed animals by the facts that they have prehensile hands (as primates) and then able to grip, or use sharp objects from their surroundings ?
I think the tiger wouldn't go on the back but would gut the rhino from the vulnerable underside between the rear legs.OUCH, I'd rather be the tiger.

Only a total moron would chose to be the rhino. What would you do with a Siberian tiger on your back biting and clawing the crap out of you.
End of thread moron. You made a fool out of yourself and you lose just like your big dumb buddy the rhino would!!
I think that many of you are underestimating the speed and agility of a rhino. They are very muscular. That means they can move.
A rhino can run over 40 miles an hour. That's is faster than a tiger.
Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but bad wigins' comment is stupid.

Oh yeah? Well a driver ant in the path of millions of vicious polar bears would turn and run and be squished. Stupid and irrelevent argument.
Now that's just pathetic. What the hell is wrong with you? Get a grip.
Bad Wigins, you're a turd. Everything you say is ridiculous. I'll have you know that I have a friend who's friend with the Brojos, and he says he can probably have someone banned if I so desire. If you don't apologize and declare your submission to me, I'll just go have a little chat with my buddy. You better do it.

Oh yeah, very convincing. A crab? Please!
It turns out that over half of the black-legged mongoose's diet is composed of the oh-so-terrifying food of driver ants.
