You do make a good point about how it was only Columbia's first meet this season...
All teams will be in competing this upcoming weekend, so it will be fun to see how all of this will change.

I am expecting Princeton to score [much] higher since they have not used Dinkins or [Hollimon] or McLean yet, and they will likely rack up [lots] more in the distance events.
Fixed and edited.
The Princeton men are going to be fairly tough to beat. They may be a bit light in the throws, but will be cheering for Harvard (and others) to limit Cornell's haul there; and in all the other events they should be good-to-loaded.
The Cornell men *do* have a decent chance to win--they could get more points in the mid-/distances than in recent years, for instance--but I think it would be a mistake to consider them the favorites. (I know that "C/M Runner" was not predicting, just reporting the performances to date.)
It's interesting to continue following Bruno Hortelano-Roig in the longer sprints. He won (massively) again this weekend, in the 400. I'm not sure about the Red's plans for him at Heps--they might not be, either!
Geez, I need to learn how to spell Austin's name correctly... stupid accent in my head!
I am curious to see how much this will change with the meet this weekend, particularly as the meets will have more Ivy League head-to-head action and take place on some really good tracks among other really strong competition.
As listed on HTC:
Friday, January 25
Columbia, Cornell, Penn & Princeton — College Night (The Armory)
Dartmouth, Harvard, & Yale — Terrier Classic (Boston, Mass.)
Harvard — Mondo Challenge (College Station, Texas)
Saturday, January 26
Brown — Reebok Boston Indoor Games (Boston, Mass.)
Harvard — MIT Meet I (Cambridge, Mass.)
Penn — Wesley A. Brown Invitational (Annapolis, Md.)
Feel free to correct me if I am mistaken on the schedule. I am expecting good marks this weekend. Perhaps finally see some more of the big guns?
Not 100% sure, but the Cornell people (men and women) have been talking about going to Terrier--women on Fri and men on Sat, right? Not sure that they'll get anyone to the Armory this weekend, though it appears that Columbia, Penn, and Princeton are "definites."
*I* hope to be at the Armory, though. Should be some very high-level competition, and it appears that it will be a scored meet.

I thought it was a little odd that there was no mention of mens distance or mid-distance, but perhaps the coach wasn't available. Hoping some of the distance guys can continue at the level they attained in xc but hopefully show a bit more consistency.
So I noticed C/M did a virtual meet score, I decided to do a little more in depth analysis to account for athlete's year end potential. I took every athlete's PB from over the past 5 seasons 2011 IN, 2011 OU, 2012 IN, 2012 OU & 2013 IN and ranked the top 10 times/marks
The scoring is not counting 4x4, 4x8, or DMR:
162.00 Princeton
116.33 Cornell
072.33 Harvard
059.00 Columbia
044.00 Brown
019.33 Dartmouth
017.00 Penn
006.00 Yale
*NOTE: This does not take into account impossible doubles such as 400 and 500 or the 800 and 1000 etc.

Perhaps it could be that they did a XC preview and they didn't want to share the same info twice? My guess anyways.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zh4NplsuSIkInteresting and creative analysis, fun. I wonder how they will compare with what their respective season's bests at the end of the season. Are you thinking of doing it also for the women?
I only did it for men (takes awhile to sort through everything)
As for how it compares. I did it last year by myself to pre-score 2012 indoor and outdoor heps, and it gave a pretty accurate picture.
Adding 2012 and 2011 PBs instead of just 2013 PBs I feel does the runner justice especially if 2012 was an injury/off year for that athlete also for example say someone who runs a 4:01 mile constently in 2012 and 2011 but for some reason only ran the mile once in 2013 early in the year his seed time wont really show his ability due to never running the race in peak condition due to race choices.
USTFCCA does their rankings accounting for 2012 marks but I include 2011 for redshirters/injuries
Much thanks for your work, fun.! Pulling that all together must have taken *quite* a while. (I, too, would be interested in a women's compilation, but the potential time involved would be daunting.) It makes clearer the point of Ithacan and others: Princeton is the team to beat.
Sure, in your projection PU would have to rely inordinately on a few people (some of whom, as you note, would face impossible doubles)--but the fact is that the Tigers have guys who could fill a lot of those gaps pretty successfully.
Between you and C/M, I may skip (or at least postpone) doing a virtual scoring. That'll give me a better chance to appreciate this weekend's action (which should be *tremendous*) for its own sake!
After looking at the indoor schedule these are the feasible doubles I assumed...
Mile/3K
Mile/5K
3K/5K
Mile/1000 (Only if you are Cornell or Princeton would you bother doing this for pts sake like Van Ackeren last year)
Mile/800 (Only if you are Cornell or Princeton would you bother doing this for pts sake like Van Ackeren last year)
Thus I made assumptions for who the coaches would put out on the track and readjusted scoring
400m (Remove PRI Dinkins)
+3 Columbia
+2 Brown
+1 Cornell
-6 Princeton
500m (Remove COL McFann, COR Admirand, COR Wade)
+2 Penn
+1 Brown
-3 Columbia
800m (Remove PRI Dinkins, PRI Callahan, COL Claflin, PRI Paternostro, COR Wade)
+6 Cornell
+2 Columbia
+1 Dartmouth
-9 Princeton
1000m (Remove BRO Berg, BRO Cooper)
+3 Cornell
+2 Yale
+1 Princeton
-6 Brown
Mile (Remove PRI Williams, COL Jones, COR Schilkowsky)
No Change
3000m
No Change
5000m (Remove DAR Bleday)
No Change
Total Change when adjusting for doubling/tripling
+10 Cornell
+2 Columbia
+2 Penn
+2 Yale
+1 Dartmouth
-3 Brown
-14 Princeton
Thus new score becomes (not counting relays)
148.00 Princeton
126.33 Cornell
072.33 Harvard
061.00 Columbia
041.00 Brown
020.33 Dartmouth
019.00 Penn
002.00 Yale
One other big if is Princeton's Tom Hopkins in the Heptathalon, he may not be able to do 7 events + LJ + 400m (last time he did Heptath was his freshman year) As for relays it will be extremely hard for Cornell to close in on Princeton's virtual 22 pt lead in 3 relays.

*I* hope to be at the Armory, though. Should be some very high-level competition, and it appears that it will be a scored meet.
Princeton men will be competing at Navy this weekend.
Yes, there have been some major changes to the teams schedules since I looked at them in the preseason. The teams will be all over the place, with quite a few squads splitting up. But the main meets this weekend for the conference are the BU Terrier Invite and the NYRR College Night at the Armory. I can't wait to look at the conference lists and scoring after this weekend to see how drastically things have changed in the span of one week.
Is anyone planning to go to either one of these meets (just thought I'd ask).
I may get to the NYRR meet. (Have to see how things go at work today, as I've been a bit under the weather.) Should be zoo-y, but fun!
Live stream going on right now on armorytrack.com for the Metropolitan Championships (free), if anyone is interested in watching.
The "live results" for the BU Terrier Invite are not live, today, and FloTrack has the video locked up behind their new paywall. Frustrating...
Any idea if video from HEPS will be either streamed or at least uploaded? They did the last time the meet was at Harvard, but I think that was kids from the team - nothing "official" from the team nor the conference office.

Columbia women defended their Metro Championships:
As for video at Heps - no idea.
Okay, Terrier women's results are up:

Let's see...improvements to the tfrrs list from last week (
http://www.tfrrs.org/lists/967.html
)...Ebolutalese Airewele (C) 55.29 and Gabrielle Scott (H) 55.34 bettered Airewele's previous leader...Molly Renfer (H) 2:09.53, Lauren Lloyd (C) 2:11.22, Paige Kouba (H) 2:11.58, Elyse Wilkinson (C) 2:13.05, Sasha Teninty (B) all beat Megan Krumpoch's (D) previous leader at 800...Greta Feldman (Pr) moves to #2 on the mile list with 4:45.44...Cornell's Emily Shearer (9:20.86) and Genna Hartung (9:32.14) move to 2-4 on the 3,000 list, behind teammate Rachel Sorna...six Ivy women (five from Cornell) better the 5,000m leading time, led by Sorna's 15:53.76 (! whoa)...Harvard (3:44.08) and Cornell (3:45.20) improved on Cornell's previous leader in the 4x400...Cornell's Dishong won the pole vault, but did not improve her leading mark...no new leading performances in the rest of the field events.
Lots of action in the Armory today (I got to see a little of it)--most, if not all, of the above statements about new leaders will no longer hold true when the Armory results are added in. A terrific, productive, competitive weekend!
Penn men and Princeton women on the NYRR College Night at the Armory II last night.
http://www.tfrrs.org/results/27113.html
For the men, it was just Penn and Columbia. I didn't see too many performances of note, other than Maalik Reynolds didn't compete.
For the women, Alexis Mickaelian won the mile in 4:49, leading a 1-2-3 sweep. Tory Worthen vaulted 12-9.5 to win the pole vault. No Ratcliffe. And it looked like some Columbia folks doubled up from the Metro Championship that was held earlier in the day.
Brown men won the Joe Donague Games (Reggie Lewis Center), while Brown women was just outside of a three-way tie for 1st place by one point. Dartmouth was also there.
Terrier men's events are still going on, but I see that Bruno H-R ran 21.39 for 200. He might be wishing that the new Heps events started this year, not next.
Also, does anyone have a link to the results from Princeton's meet at Navy?
