I think you might be wrong.
Is it physically possible to run a sub 4 mile as a heel striker?
Let alone 3:51.1... on cinder track...with crappy spikes...

Is he coached by that crazy guy from Texas?
I used to think coaches and talented athletes go together more as moral support than anything, but after reading that line.....
I give the interview a + though, he only talked about running.
I don't see Jim Ryun heel striking in this race:
Will someone show him where the neighborhood pharmacy is so he can get the $10 per bottle Kenyan special EPO sale?

No, but there is AIDS and EPO....
" I was always amazed when I was at Stanford that we would have a group of 20 guys who would do every workout together for 3 months straight, yet when race day came we would finish as much as a minute apart from each other over 10K. What I learned was it isn't who does the workout the fastest, but who does the workout at the right effort level. Winning workouts means nothing."
This is interesting considering Ian Dobson has said that Ryan wasn't a good teammate and was looking to drop his teammates in a workout any chance he got.
so does he think he is going to be a different runner when he comes back? If I went and trained in Kenya and came back, I really doubt there would be anything magically different about my ability, I would still be slow.
I think right now Hall is too proud to admit that this experiment since he left Mahon isn't working, but this is a way he can do something different and hopefully move forward.

In the article, Hall says "Let me use myself as an example here: I typically enjoy training on my own for my hard workouts. I like to run with others on easy days but when I am going hard I like to be the one to control the pace so I can ensure I run the proper effort level and don't get into competing with teammates."
It sounds like he has recognized his weakness (that he tends to compete unnecessarily in workouts if others are around). He might even agree with Ian Dobson.
Folks who heel strike during training also strike mid/fore foot when racing faster than a given pace.
he certainly doesn't look like he's racing in this photo:

Love your post! Hope he does not meet up with the wrong Tutsies across the street or wrong Mutsies down the road..carrying a machete.
Nah, he goes there for a negress.

For a solid Ryan Hall interview, I can't believe the negative & mostly baseless posts.

Why not? Hall's a tool.
Why is he wasting his time going there? His 4 month build up to his last Boston was near perfect. Sure, it was a windy day, so subtract a couple of minutes if you want (2:04:58 - 2:06:58) A 2:06:58 at Boston is still incredible! Get back to Flagstaff and get on those trails again and yes, get more help and advice but don't radically change everything, that's not going to help. And that church,...... is it really making him a better person spiritually or physically?
Why does he think that taking onboard some common sense from others outside of his own religious tradition is somehow giving into "Satanic Advice"?
Bouncing around just contributes to instability and inconsistency. He needs to get stable and just stick to it! Heal up and then train smarter. Why try to be a Kenyan? Just be happy with being yourself.

Something about training with the best.
I agree with you. Ryan Hall ran 2:04, the best Kenyan runners right now are at 2:03:xx. 1 minute difference. Whatever he did, worked. No need to go to Kenya.
Hopefully God has a work visa. Otherwise, AK will kick him out of the country.

Trolling?
