So, i am a cross country runner fat my community college. I am the fastest runner on the team and always finish first on the team, and place in the top 20 or top 10 in all my races. However for the past 3 weeks my practices have been horrible. This is my first time ever running in my life so i'm not sure whats happening.
My legs are always sore and i have no sprint speed at practice. for the past 2- 3 weeks i have been finishing with the slower runners on our team in practice. I try to run harder and sprint, however my legs just wont let me. even doing warm up runs and jogs before practice or a race are making me tired, and making my legs get that burning sensation. However, i have still been finishing in the top 20 or 20 in all my races.
Can someone enlighten me on what is going on? its extremely frustrating. my coach says i have hit a plateau. any other theories?
