HS PR's of Colorado's Blue Collar Crew

People forget that Hursyz was DEAD when he was running for Pete Watson at North Carolina. With that being said, Wetmore can revive runners and develop sub par high school recruits to the level of the above mentioned. It's truly something high school recruits should look at more during the recruiting process.

One was at altitude, Medina.

The only big name not in the top 7 is Moussa 4:10, 8:49 and only 1 of those guys is from altitude (Medina Grand Junction about 4800ft)

Connor Winter was a big time recruit who was 7th man. 4:0x, 9:09. Also, they have recent Duke transfer Morgan Pearson who was fast in high school but will probably take a little time to undo what Duke did to him (joking).

CUs 8th man in the open race was Matt Biegner, he ran 1:56 and no better than 4:45 (altitude). Missing anymore names? You know they have a roster page with all the information. This stuff comes up every year, just look at the roster page. All the stats are available.

Compare this team to that of Stanfords top 7. Quite a big difference in high school accolades.

4:06/8:49 is close to the best of all-time. Check how many guys have broken 8:50 in the last 50 years. It isn't that many. Those PRs are right near to what Virgin, Pre, Chapa, or McChesney ran in HS. Some of the greatest HS and college runners of all-time.

Very few boys run under 8:50 more than once in HS, so this kid is right up there with the best of all-time.

The Theroux kid who ran 4:14/9:13 is close to a blue-chip recruit, depending on where he ran those times and whether he was FIRST in those races or 4th.

The other kids ARE great examples of 4:15-4:20 / 9:15-9:30 types who actually IMPROVED AGAIN like you do from junior yr to senior yr, and are probably all at sub-4:10/sub-9:00 ability now.

For lots of reasons (some of which are the runners fault) too many kids don't improve reliably and consistently beyond what they were at age 18.

Wetmore seems to be really good at unlocking this ability in people.

Virgin ran 8:40.9 and 13:58, Pre 8:41.5 and 13:52, Chapa 28:32 and McChesney 29:06...far superior marks.

BTW, as high school sophomores, Virgin ran 8:57, Chapa 8:55 indoors and McChesney ran 8:55 and 29:27.

Was DEAD while at UNC? He ran 3:45 and. 8:01 as a true freshmen and won the PAN AM 5000m. His soph XC year he was 6th at ACC Xc behind 5 all Americans and was top 60 at NCAA. Yeah he really struggled at UNC

Blue collar crew? Last time I was in CU field house I noticed a small room in the corner containing two zero G treadmills. Not exactly the training tools of a blue collar team.

It is not 4+, it is 3.6 seconds, so 8;53+ is accurate.
