what did gary fanelli run whenhe ran in a suit?
I have seen that name more than once. Interesting. The key here is it is a Guinness record and needs paperwork submitted...and to be recognized...
Maybe we can organize a suit-only marathon...uh...not....
Campbell did it to raise awareness for his law practice's pro bono society for people who cannot afford lawyers....wwww.accessprobono.ca
Good for him, but I still find all of these costumed marathon records to be extremely gimmicky.
That dude looks like someone propped a human head on a broomstick.
Put any elite distance runner, in this case an ultra-runner and you can say that about them when in a suit.
He is a super nice guy and pretty humble...he was raising awareness for his law firm that has a society that offers pro bono service for those who cannot afford it....
Interesting. I have run with rather non-conventional attire occasionally (ie Halloween costumes, jeans, carrying jackets that I take off midway) and found it doesn't really slow me down significantly. Still depending on the temperature, I'm guessing a suit could be very warm. And 2:35 is a pretty strong time regardless.
Still, if any of the top Kenyan runners ran with a suit, especially on a cold day, I'm guessing they would still finish under 2:10.
He should have had to wear dress shoes as well.

http://rogerbourban.com/?q=media-gallery/detail/27/133I think it's safe to say that his 2:47 waiter record is pretty close to the new suit record.
Well, considering the times in Beijin marathon and Seville World champs marathon, im pretty sure an elite marathoner in more favorable conditions could run well under 2:20 in a suit.
Well Adam did say that he is sure an East African could easily take the record, but the problem is they have to do it and file the papers....
...key issue: It is a fun record, not something that earns money.
I don't envy the chafing he must have experienced.
I looked at the Marathon's result page. 2:35:51. Sixth overall and big negative split.
Pretty impressive. The guy must have read about 3:2X being the record and realized that was his easy run pace. I think he accomplished his goal of making it respectable.
I would not be surprised if Michael Wardian tried to beat it this winter in one of his weekly marathons.
He said he didn't experience chafing, just overheating.
Think about how 7th place finisher must have felt.

The video makes it look like he outkicked him.
I call bull - Gary Fanelli has run at least 2:25 in a suit..maybe faster in a baseball uniform.

Doug:
I recall at Toronto Marathon Gary ran in the low 2:30's, even stopping to drink a beer.
I don't know the time for sure, but I had a training partner that barely beat him or was barely beat by him and I recall my buddy had run 2:32.
It was some time ago and my memory is faded...just like my race pace
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
