The UGA boys looked good yesterday taking 3rd behind 2 really good Iona and Columbia teams and beating out the #6 Texas Longhorns. What do you think about them and where in the rankings will they land this week?

Texas didn't race a full squad or near it.
They were missing their #1 Ryan Dohner, 3:35 man Kyle Merber, another of their top 5 from last year Mark Pinales, and 14:0x guy Will Nation.
Probably should be ranked about 25th. They are solid but not top 20 based on yesterday. Just because they were behind Iona doesn't mean they were close to them. Texas looks like they ran a B team. Either that or their whole team is injured.

Don't make excuses for them. There's absolutely no way that Texas would have beaten Iona. No way. The University of Texas Longhorns are the most overrated team in the country. It is what it is. They should probably drop to 20-24 in the rankings while Texas A&M drops completely. Both of them were grossly overrated while Iona and Villanova are grossly underrated.
UGA looks REALLY good considering their selfish, money-hungry coach left them at the beginning of the school year for a higher paying job.
3 Georgia 143 14 21 28 39 41 74 84
5 Texas 166 11 22 25 47 61 78 90
You stick in the 2 or 3 Texas guys and it wouldn't have made a huge difference anyways. One guy may have been top 10 in that race but it's doubtful that the other one or two guys would have been as well. Columbia and Georgia matched up very well against Texas no matter if you add in a few more heavy hitters from their team who were sitting out. Texas has been heavily overrated since last years breakout season, and now people expect no one but Wisconsin, Oklahoma, or Colorado to beat them. They may be in for a rude awakening.

You stick in Ryan Dohner (51st at NCAA last year coming off a stress fracture, 7th at NCAA's in the 10k), Kyle Merber ( 98th at NCAA's coming off pneumonia from IVy's and no summer training), and Mark Pinales (3rd highest placing freshman in the NCAA last year) and you have got a whole heck of difference.
3 Georgia 143 14 21 28 39 41 74 84
5 Texas (55) 166 (Dohner- 4th, Merber-8th, Pinales- 12th,) 11 22 25 47 61 78 90 = 57 Even placing dohner at 6th which is just based on NCAA's last year compared to the other Iona guys , that would give them 59.
Now on top of all this, if you put Lutz where he is FULLY capable of being.. 4th-7th. You easily have them a good 7-10 points ahead of Iona. I am not sure where you got your math to figure Georgia is better than Texas, but you are missing some huge factors in the equation.
Woulda...
Coulda...
Shoulda.
Texas is single handily the most overrated team in the NCAA. No questions asked. They have the flo brotherhood and social media as their main advantages which is why they are ranked so high. Though they're a bunch of above average D1 runners that will probably place top 20 as a team, they are not are not are not a top ten team and Craig Lutz is no where near a top-5 runner individually. He would be lucky to repeat his 33rd place finish from last year. Anyone would be lucky to do that more than once.
why didn't texas run full strength?

Why would they even waste the money to go to a meet like this if they weren't able to run full strength or 'not worry about times' like John Hayes suggested. I guess it's on the national course but they sure laid an egg.
Why would they go check out the NCAA course? idk seems so crazy to check out the course but not run!!! Lol wow are you serious dude? They are saving their top guys legs and running their B runners to see is going to be in their top 7.
And How would they not top the top 10 let alone the top 20??? They placed 11th last year with a much younger team.
so kyle merber does have an xc season left of eligibility?

A top ten team won the greater Louisville classic and it wasn't texas. Texas placed fifth. If Texas was so great they would have won or placed higher even in the absence of two runners. B squad or not lutz got his ass handed to them.
it seems like the talk is that some of their studs sat out but did a workout to preview the course this weekend.
This went from showing love to UGA to hating on Texas hahaha.
