I'll be watching the marathon.
Does xfit not have a message board you can go to?

These are the "fittest "athletes" in the world? They sure do a lot of walking on the "run"
Seriously, if those guys all lost some of those MUSCLES they might actually embarrass themselves less.
Too bad there weren't any tires on the course for them to lift.

Plus, fins for a 700m swim, are you kidding me?
Crossfit Games is the biggest joke on television.

I would love to see those Kenyan runners trying to overturn a truck tire. Haha. Not happening.

And by God, anyone who can do that has really proven their worth to society.
The NYC marathon is a spectacle with inspiring images, stories and competition. All good.

Please tell me you're trolling. Seriously. Strength is required in many day to day activities, like moving a drawer, yard work, ... when was the last time your running came in handy from a practical standpoint.
"Oh honey, we're out of orange juice, would you mind running 10 miles to the next Walmart?"
Bro, seriously.

"Waquie was in his prime when I was a kid, and the best story I recall about the guy involved him and a few friends out hunting in the Jemez and get snowed in with a storm of ~15". They quickly realize they're in a bit of trouble - can't drive out for several days plus they're wet and cold. Al determines the direction he needs to go and runs twelve miles through the knee-high drifts to get help. No small feat. "
Add this to the next x-fit gaymes.

I'm not going to fuel any reatrded discussion by a bunch of insecure people about who is more fit - obviously there are very different types of fitness choices and I respect anyone who is dedicated to any fitness routine. My peeve is when moronic commentators say things like "literally, you could sneeze and start a fire...". Too many people misuse "literally".
Flagpole, please ban this toolbag.
Does anyone know if there is any live streaming on the internet?
Xfitguy_the_real_one_1 why are you here?

This is so stupid. The dude starting this argument is obviously a fool. However, all the runners here really need to chill. Both of these "sports" should have respect for each other because they are based on the same premise....pushing the body to the fullest. The only people that watch running sports are runner and the only people who wat xfit game are xfitters. This like arguing about swimming and biking vs running....essentially the same.
Also....people who hate on xfit for being non traditional and claim that they are doing the body harm obviously have never tried it...the world is flat!!
Why are you putting down activities that other people like to do? If we want to run 10 miles, then get off our back. Cross Fit games are fine by me, but I could do without the over-zealous biased fanboys like yourself.
You keep asking the question, "Why watch marathon runners jog around for 6 - 8 hours?" Some people watch it to be inspired. It shows them that average people can do extraordinary things. On a side note though, the televised portion focuses on the 2 hr marathoners, so using the 6hr marathoners as an argument for not televising the event is pointless.
Of course Kenyans can't lift huge tires....They have trained their whole lives to run. Each person has their own individual strengths which is why there are so many sports to choose from. Some of us run and are cardio addicts while others like to bulk up and lift heavy objects. It's all a matter of preference. Trying to bash someone for doing what they find enjoyable for THEM is stupid and pointless. Mind your own business, troll.
Why would they want to?
Wonder how long it will be before Xfit goes out of fashion. Just like another fad that Reebok promoted to death years ago: step!!

So how did that work out, bro?
Obviously, even ESPN wasn't that interested anymore about the Marathon, yet they have shown the crossfit games like 10,000 times since then. There is something to be said about the viewership (especially the ladies) being fed up with watching a bunch of scrawny runners for 5 hours.

It's about money. People who join crossfit boxes have self-identified as sheeple who are happy to pay money to join a cult, and thus they are an advertiser's wet dream.

Crossfit has been around for a decade now. It looks like it's here to stay. I have to say, I get annoyed by the office guys that claim they get ripped and what not from crossfit workouts.
Then again, the ladies really seem impressed.
American big city marathons were given live coverage by the major networks starting in 1981 because they were new to the mindset of the general public and at the time American runners were winning them and among the best in the world.
The 1982, 1983, and 1984 NYC Marathons were very compelling races. Salazar against Gomez, Dixon against Smith, and Pizzolato cramping up and still holding off Dave Murphy on a hot day.
But gradually after that not all ABC affilliates picked it up. It had its appeal but didn't hold on to that. 10 years ago it became a taped coverage 1 hour afternoon slow spot for ABC.
Still at least until the late 1990's The NYC Marathon was a live annual big time sports broadcast for most of the country.
Marathoning had its short lasting niche and now niche sports broadcasting moved to something more fresh.
The Ironman Triathalon had the same thing. Was a big splash for a few years. But not enough to interest consistent ratings and the network moved to something new.
