Good call on this one! Schilit ran but was clearly not yet up to what he is capable of. No Schilit and Haverford did not beat NCC or Calvin, although tied Calvin to their credit.
So, what were in your respective opinions, the biggest disappointments and biggest surprises from the Mideast Region at the National Championships?
Allegheny 5th at regionals and 15th at nationals beating everyone in the region except Haverford. Not really surprised what Over did.
Any other thoughts, anyone, about the performances of the other teams or individual qualifiers?
Well, here's my 2 cents worth again. - - I'd be shocked if I was the only one surprised by Hartung's 7th place finish at Nationals. - - And I think York's 7th place finish at Regionals suprised a few. - - Might want to keep an eye on what's happening with that program. Just one senior on their roster this year.
That makes sense. It is typical to see an average team with one extremely talented standout be a team to look out for the next year when he is gone.
Hartung is not the senior; he's back next year. His success and the team's improving performance speaks to the coaching (changed 3 years ago) which can attract higher caliber talent now and into the future.
