Now we will have to hear from the Rupp haters...Kid is just tired, to say he had a great year would be an understatement

Is it worse to hate Rupp, or like Rupp and make excuses when he has a bad race?
55 as they were 12:03 with lap to go.
Anyone have any clue at what point the pace slowed down?
55.1x

Well that was underwhelming
Agreed.
I think the rain and cold made it kind of an uneven meet.
Rupp hasn't seemed on since the Games, wonder if he'll run in Brussel's?
Ah well, this is one of those years that is ultimately judged by how one did at the Olympics. Hardware or no?

It happened when somebody heard a gun.

at the beginning. they were supposed to go through 1k at 2:32 but started running mid 62s... they were never on pace.
Rupp 13:09 for ninth place.

Can we hate on Lamong...that dood did NOT bring anything today.
4 x 100. USA wins!!!!
Rupp was clearly perfectly peaked for the Olympics. Well done AlSal.
What was the first 1600 split?

Idk, I think the issue was more that he got sick at the Olympics. Probably screwed with his training, but yeah I think he did plan to peak at the Olympics. Still a great season for Rupp, can't complain when you are setting 1500 and 5k PBs early in the season and getting a 10k silver medal at the Olympics. He still has room for improvement going into next year (relative to his potential), which is good because it gives him new goals to set in a WC year.
No complaints here, a guy that continually performs exceptionally well on the world stage and in fact did his best when the pressure was the most in the Olympics.
Yup, Rupp's 13:09 is something like the 16th best US all time mark.
List through end of 2011:http://www.trackandfieldnews.com/index.php/tafn-lists?list_id=10&sex_id=M&yyear=2008
Then add in Rupp's Eugene DL time and Lagat's indoor mark and his mark today:

There are only six other US men who have run faster that today's "bad race": Lagat, Sol, Ritz, Kennedy, Teg, Maree. So, unless you are one of those guys, I don't think there is a lot of room to throw stones at today's performance. It wasn't a PR or an AR or even a spectacular performance. On the other hand, stupid and unrealistic fans who demand a career best run every time a runner steps on the track are a huge reason that this sport has a doping problem.

Wow...... quite a bit faster than he ran in London.
