Angelo Taylor has won how many gold medals? You? He did a fine job. Where were Jeremy Warner, LaShawn Merritt? Where were other 400 specialists? They all didn't show up this year so they asked Angelo to help out. He did the best he could under the circumstances. Team still finished in 2:56+. Give credit where it is due, to the Bahamans. They earned it. Leave Angelo alone. He has done this country proud many times over.

The splits I got while watching last night were 45.29, 43.43, 43.40. 44.93 - not a bad squad, just not good enough.
Mance and McQuay ran great, but Nellum and Taylor were a bit off their best.
Considering injuries to Merritt, Wariner, and Clement not being at his best fitness level we probably fielded the best we could. Verbrug's PR is 45.06,(slower than both Nellum and Taylor) so I do not see how he could have made a substantial difference.
It is oh so easy to second guess a coach's relay picks, but not so easy to make those picks.
I think you had Nellum too slow and Mance too fast. I thik it was much closer to 44.5 and 44.1. No way Mance ran 43.4, he didn't even get us the lead or really make up much ground. And for those saying the Bahamas only has 350,000 people beating us they beat everyone else too. Jamaica has far less people than most other countries and they are now the sprint capital. The US will be back we had 3 guys just out of college run on a team that went 2:56! I could see the US run about 2:54 in Rio with 3 of those guys and another young guy who comes along.
Blaming Taylor for loosing silver is like a hitch hiker blaming the person that picked them up for driving too slow. Could have left your dam ass on the street curb

To be fair, Tinsley did those 400m personal bests in 2006 and 2007 and just got silver in a rather quick 400h. I think the choice is the choice and Taylor almost had enough. Easy to judge after. If he wins, great choice. Loses, bad choice. It was close, and took a great run for the team to be beaten.
Taylor was the right choice based what he had done in the past and he gave his best effort...it's always easy to play quarterback after the game.

Clement hasn't demonstrated anything in the flat 400m in the last few years and was behind Taylor....who has...in the 400mh.
Taylor was the right choice based on who was available. Tinsley hasn't run a flat 400m in years and is a complete unknown over the distance and everyone else was hurt. Why anyone thinks Christian Taylor would have run better than Angelo should escape anyone with any knowledge of the sport.
An order switch might have resulted in a different outcome but it is certainly not the lock some of the nitwits in this thread have posted.

Clement has always been a much better 400 than 400h. 400m WR HOLDER > washed up old man, angelo taylor hasnt show ANYTHING in 400m ever, he qualified because of the overall weak field this year. taylor's leg was horrible, absolutely horrid, US had 3 gold medalist and one scrub leaving them with silver.
