Verburg would have gone faster.
Verburg would have gone faster.
Actually the first three legs all could have run faster and gotten a bigger lead for him. It would've been nice to have a healthy Wariner and Merritt on it, too. Blaming the loss on one guy is just dumb. Wise up, fool.
Merritt is unfortunately tainted.
Give him a break, he's been partying with the underaged Chinese woman's gymnastic team for the last week and they called him up at the last minute to run the 4x400 and he did the best he could.
Taylor was a good choice for anchor. Just didn't work out this time. We rarely lose a 4x4 and it takes a team running a National record to beat us. Think about that. We lose to only one team, it rarely happens, and they run the race of their lives to beat us. We always show up and are in the race right down to the last meters. I'm OK with results like that.
The USA are done as a power in male sprints
should have put McQuay on anchor instead.

Taylor is a 35 y/o washed up old man that needed to retire years ago. Only reason he even made the U.S team this Olympics was because of the weakness on the 400h this time around.
The U.S coaches f***ed up bad on this one. Taylor's leg flat sucked sh*t. Tinsley or Verburg would have gone faster.
should've put a girl in as the anchor.

lol.
we are #2 in sprints now and will be#1 again shortly after bolt retires, probably in 4-8 years.
Tinsley should have been the choice
hmmm....3 college kids and a guy in his thirties run 2:57 and win silver...can you say overachievers?

This.
Taylor too old.
Wariner kept Verberg from getting a ticket to London.
This would have won:
Nellum lead
Mance 2nd
Verburg/Tinsley 3rd
McQuay anchor
McQuay wouldn't have been run down. The lead would have been the same or slightly less going into the anchor.
The U.S coaches f***ed this up good. Cost us a Gold medal with this stupidity. How could you not go with Tinsley? How could you not include Verburg in the pool after Wariner's injury weeks ago?
Its not like Merritt knew he wasn't hurt either WEEKS ago and could potentially not be available.
U.S coaches gave away a Gold medal. I'm pissed.
Wariner was hurt weeks ago.
Merritt was possibly hurt weeks ago. There is no excuse.
We only had 4 guys going into the semi. Taylor was not an option. Tinsley was a much better option.

The sad thing is this is actually possibly believable knowing Taylor.
Is this for real?!?! How could an athlete go out partying knowing that he has not finished fulfilling his commitments to the country he represents?! That is reprehensible. Especially if it's true that he was with young girls--that's messed up!!!

It's not just that we lost. We lost to The Bahamas, with a population of 350,000.
