No, that was Denis Fikes of Penn. Waldrop didn't go to medical school either. PHD in physiology. Close enough for government work!
Homey,
It?s not my intetntion to start a ?which state is better? thread as all the states could throw up their list of good guys (and they all get their butt kicked by a little area in the Rift Valley section of Kenya, anyway). However, just to illustrate that the Texas list is not at all exceptional in comparison with many, here is a sampling of Michigan products?
Greg Meyer, Herb Lindsay, Todd , Brian Diemer, Bill and Gerard Donakowski, Doug Kurtis, Brian Grosso, Brian Hyde, Paul McMullen, Dathan Ritzenhein, Jason Hartmann , Ryan Shay, Mark Smith, Tom Chorny, Paul Afdumberge, Brad Kirk, Clint Verran, Jeff Drenth? and I know I am forgetting many?
As far as the Texas schools and their recent development? not to bag on those guys? but they should have AT LEAST this many decent guys. What is the total yearly enrollment of A&M and Texas, anyway? A hundred thousand?
Lastly, on a complete side note, your mention of Dailey was notable in that, in my opinion, he was a classic overachiever (although I hate that word?overachiever? really is no such thing, is there). Anyway, he had more of a football player?s build and did not really look like a distance runner at all. His form seemed inefficient as I have heard several call it more of a ?waddling? technique (not to be confused in any way with the Penguin). However, none of this meant anything to him and he went on to ?waddle? very well, contributing to many Razorback championships. We would all do well to follow his example (believing in oneself is a character trait of all great runners).
Any more?
