If they don’t make it this year, maybe they will make it next year. Only 2 guys from this group above will be graduating. They also have a 17:11 incoming sophomore and some solid freshmen coming in.
The disrespect to wando is insane. Of any other team went 1-2 in the 3200 and returned both people would be foaming at the mouth putting them at the top of rankings.
Huntsville always seems to put together a really good team. I think they will be down this year, but in 2024 they should be able to qualify for NXN. They got a really good freshman/sophomore class this year.
I think I will actually change the picks for the top 5. 1. Belen Jesuit Prep FL 2. McCallie TN 3. Bolles FL 4. Wando SC 5. Brentwood TN
McCallie TN returns 5 guys under 16:18 including 3 4:18/9:25 guys. Almost none of those guys PRed at RunningLane.
University High probably won’t be top 5. They are losing their top 2 including their stud Larry Josh Edwards.
Huntsville doesn't have a prayer, they may not even win their own state meet.

If you look at the last 3-4 years they always have really good freshmen and sophomores that then don't make the same improvements they should. Also they haven't had much success post high school.

Yeah in 2019 Huntsville was expected to at least be close to qualifying for NXN (maybe 3rd at NXR?) but instead they moved down from 7th to only 12th in a year at NXR.
In 2020 they seemed to have a really good season though. 7th at running lane.
Hardin Valley graduated six of their top seven opening the door for other teams to claim \"best in the state\" this year. Here\'s a look at the candidates.

Actually, Farragut is gonna give McCallie a run for the second NXR bid
Farragut returns better XC times but McCallie returns better track times.
McCallie returns:
3 guys who ran a 4:18/9:25 last spring -A 16:15 guy who didn’t do track -A 16:18 guy who was an 800 runner mostly.
If Sean Brosnan were to evaluate McCallie’s and Farragut’s track times, he would likely say that no one from Farragut was fast for a high schooler, but McCallie did have 3 runners who were fast.
