My son was a recruited D1 distance guy a couple of years back. Several programs called July 1. I seem to remember others trickling in over the course of July. They were already trying to set up recruiting visits for the fall. He got a bunch of letters via his coach and school during junior year and had already been in email contact with most of them, though.
Filling put the online forms just a month ago might not have given them time to contact you. I agree with the others - best to send emails directly to the coach. Summarize your times, national races, state titles, whatever, and also your gpa and test scores. Register with NCAA clearinghouse if you haven't already done so.
Even top programs continue to recruit through xc season. They are out in force at Foot Locker and NXN.
Keep in mind that you also have to apply for college admission - easy at some places but tough at others -Princeton, Stanford, etc. Make sure you know deadlines, take all tests, etc.
