Ashcroft probably did not have all too much to do with Hasay. She was mainly a pole vault coach but served as an assistant to the distance program.
But it goes to show track is all about personal opinion. Last year Oregon had a national champion in the pole vault and this year their top javelin thrower threw 80 meters as a freshman. Both their coaches have been let go.
But I have a feeling since Vin is wanting to deal with some other programs and actually play AD they may want to bring in a more top of the line distance coach. Because at Oregon I figure you need around 6 paid distance coaches.
And why not? They can get any 'volunteer' they need from Oregon TC. They got Harry Mara coaching Eaton there and he is pretty much an expert at .. well... everything.

This is correct. Vin himself probably spent more time with Jordan's coaching than did Ashcroft.

Robert Weir did not coach the Javelin throwers. He had the Disc., Shot and Hammer throwers only

The distance coaches are Andy Powell, Ashcroft and Vin with middle distance. The OTC Elite coaches have their hands full with pro athletes.

Jamie is no Oregon's Decathlon coach. Harry Marra is coaching Eaton as a pro. Eaton graduated over a year ago and has been an OTC athlete since.
Goe is a fool.
Nike plans to bid Portland and not Eugene.
But as we saw for the losing 2020 Chicago Olympic bid, global politics make it virtually impossible for the US to get the 2019 IAAF WCs.
Actually Goe has been as close on as anyone in the track and field reporting business for the last few years. Also, don't underestimate Eugene's contacts and goodwill. Tom Jordan is experienced and well-liked in the Diamond League and Masters t&f communities, Phil Knight is...well...Phil Knight, the Eugene folks (Lananna included) have worked well with many European athletic unions, including the Brits and Germans.
Hilarious. Meth is all you have in Eugene. Zero chance for Worlds anytime this century ;-)
Eug DL & NYC DL are flops. The IAAF want to cut non-Euro countries out of the Diamond League.

Never say never except for Eugene given it's too small and has no night life or 5 star accomodations required by national royalty, ruling elite, and military junta that make up 90% of the members of the 5000 strong IAAF Mafia.
But two situations could instead make a Portland bid a reality.
1) US military occupation and adventurism in the Middle East is ended.
2) IAAF has Outdoor World Championships 'every year there is no Summer Olympics', instead of the current 'every odd numbered year'. Thus the IAAF would have a 2018 WCs instead of a 2018 BYE year. In this case the number of WCs would increase by 50% increasing the odds of the Arab Muslim and Caucasian Muslim nations voting for a US bid.
Wasn't Powell's wife a coach or atleast volunteer coach helping out with the women' program a year or two ago?? I thought on another post there was some rumbling about Andy Powell leaving Oregon to head to Portland to work under Salazar and Nike O.P. where he could continue to coach Centro full-time..Who does that leave at Oregon coaching distance XC and T&F??
Stanford Athletics wants Mr and Mrs Carlucci back on The Farm.

NYC (Icahn) was definitely a flop and will not get a repeat. Eugene, on the other hand, had another excellent meet this year and was one of the more lucrative for the Diamond League folks. IAAF has rated the 2012 Pre Classic as #4 of the series. In 2011 it was rated #2. Eugene will positively be part of the series for many years to come.
Beth probably was told to shut up re Penn State, so I could see her bouncing to work with Vin again...

Wow. I never thought in this direction, but she would be a GREAT choice (and I could see how coaching tenures might be a bit dicey in Happy Valley at this time).
I'm sure it would be a wrench to leave PSU--she's built a powerhouse program there, despite the carping of a certain segment of the alumni--but I'm sure UO would be able to make it worth her while.
I think Oregon would be hard pressed to find someone better.
The attendance at the New York Diamond League and Eugene Diamond League was a dismal failure again. The IAAF is going to kill them both off and return to the full Golden League TV meet format next year.

Beth is an awesome coach but Pattisue Plummer has the women's job now and should be given a chance. Stanford wants Andy Powell back for the men's gig. I hope Allen Johnson takes the offer and shows up on The Farm too.
Wondering what good a track coach is to a school if it gets the death penalty...could the NCAA shut down ALL sports at Penn State? Beth would be wise to tell Happy Valley sayonara...
Holy smokes! Jordan doesn't have a coach next year? This story is bigger than the Penn state pattern/Sandusky story!!!!
Jordan has been running in races since fourth grade. Then the Junior Olympics, then high school, now college.
She has never lost a beat. I would think at this point in her career she has seen it all, been there, done that, and can virtually coach herself? What do you all think?
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
