Ian, u tryna win the Peach Belt title this year? Ur training is odd.
Not to hijack. But if I ran a run a 5K in 16:00, what could I run for a 5K?
Ran a run a??
I ran a 1:29.1 600m TT where I felt pretty blown out at the end.
Shortly after that I ran 2:02.5 for the 800, with a 62.4/60.1 negative split.
I don't think I could have run much faster in a time trial scenario for 600m. I think I could have been at least under 2:01 (and possibly under 2:00) for the 800m with better pacing.
I was more of an endurance runner, with 4:23 for 1600m PR when I did those, but I was only training about 30mpw (late 80s coaching).
Depending on whether you are more of a sprinter or distance runner, you could be anywhere from 1:58 - 2:05.

But me and my training partner are doing 40x200 on sunday.
By short, I meant short intervals. Do you ever run any over 400m? Speed is one thing, speed endurance is another.

40x200 is an obnoxious amount of reps. Don't do that unless you want to hurt yourself.
As far as a prediction, I'd say 2:00-2:01.
Doing it because its my training partners birthday. I don't know why we are doing 40 though, because he is turning 25..

id say 1:59-2:01 range.
I'm not going to question the 18 miler, but running at 10pm is the obscure part of that...
I usually run at 7am and 7pm but I had to pick up my girlfriends mom from work at 7pm that day, so I didnt get started till later. And I got done at 10pm, not started.

Oh, I see. Well I haven't done any non pure speed stuff since summer started. Did stuff like 2x2 miles and 5x800 and 4x1200 before summer started.
And on that 2x2miles I went 9:51 and 9:39 with a last lap of 58.9. Last 800 was 2:07.
And I ran 2:03.39 in the last 800 meter I raced which was 2 track seasons ago, before I did any pure speed work.
I guess my 600 meter time is just slow, and I should work on it because I'm almost positive I could run like 1:55ish.
And to people saying, go run one and see, I can't because there are no 800 meter races around here right now and no one even wants to run a 400 at 59 to let me draft them for one lap.
the weather in georgia, assuming you're still there, is inhospitable even at 7:30, though probably not too bad for an 800m. your legs were fatigued from your long run the previous night and this was not a race, so you can run 1:25 fresh, which gives you a good shot at 1:55, but I'm going to guess 1:57. good luck.
so is tinmans chart based on a 600m time trial or 600m split? Im assuming that the chart is 600m best, or I would question it. really asking and not trolling
I'd say 3:52 for 1500 based on endurance.
Do the same time trial again rest 1 minute and then run the last 200 as fast as you can. Let us know what you come up with with the last 200 and we will let you know within a half second what you will run.
between 202 and 205
Some data. My son recently did a workout 600 - 400 - 200 with full recoveries with the times of 1:30.5, 58.3, and 26.6, and then 4 days later ran an all out 800 time trial in 2:03.6 splitting 61.4, 62.2. He is 17 years old, runs 65 miles a week, most of them at 7:30-8:00 pace with occasional tempo runs and speed sessions. His other recent performances are 1:09:11 half dropping 1000 feet from 5700 ft to 4700 ft, and 32:50 out and back 10 K on a flat course at 4200 feet.
Ima say 2:02.34
