WRONG. Mary would tell you she would rather have the HSR.. considering she mentions in her interviews that her goal is to get faster and PR every race.

The 800 is as close to the 400 as the 1500, not to even include the longer distances. So now ask: how many WJ titles has the U.S. gotten at 400 meters? The answer to that will give you a clue as to why we have a titlist at 800 before 1500+.

I have asked this twice already. Is Ajee Wilson's gold the first ever in the distance events at World Juniors? I believe it is. In fact, I can't even think of any US distance runners who have medaled.
There's no reason to continue to argue this. One athlete won a World Jr. Gold while another smashed a US HSR in the 1500 by 3.5 seconds. Cain's name will stand for a very long time because she's a national record holder. Wilson will be remembered for a while for a Gold.. but not nearly as long as Cain. Plus Cain in her own right could run a 2:00.91 in a properly paced race. She would have been in that fight the last 100 meters with Judd and Wilson had she run in it.
Thanks for your response it solidify you as the dumbest Letsrun poster of all-time and a useless bigot. Cain may run sub 2:01 in 2014 but she couldn't run sub 2:03 this year if she was going downhill with roller skates!
Mary will be remember by white posters from Letsrun while Ajee continue to be mentioned by international championships announcers and feared by her foreign competitiors!

Records will be remembered more than medals? Records can be broken. Medals are forever.
Also, not saying Mary Cain can't run a super fast 800. But people, please stop suggesting that 2:03.34 is anywhere near 2:00.91. Doing so demonstrates such a profound ignorance of the sport that I don't even know where to begin.

That applies MUCH more to athlete themselves than it does to the fans.
- People still talk about Jeff Nelson's 2-mile record set in 1979. Tell me, do you remember who was the World Junior champion in either the 1500m or the 5000m back then?
- Bob Beamon's long jump WR set at the 1968 Olympics is iconic. Just like Mary Cain, he smashed the old record. Tell me, do you remember who won the Olympic long jump in 1972?
I didn't think so.
You both need reality checks.. Big time.. Cain ran a 2:03.34 unpushed in heavy wind and rain.. And this was 2 months ago.. Back when she was running 4:17 1500s... That EASILY accounts for a two and a half second improvement.

Until you do it, it's mere speculation. You might was well say Steve Ovett is a 1:42 800 runner even though he never broke 1:44 despite 3:30.7 1500 strength, and 47.5 (as a nineteen year old)400 speed.
btw - Jessica Judd born 7 January 1995 not only ran 2.00.96 to take silver in the WJ 800m but also clocked a PB of 4.09.93 finishing 5th in the 1500m. You're American girls are v good, but Judd is the real deal.
:)
Holy Crap.
What an amazingly detailed and farcical rationalization for letrsun blatant racism
yeah but, no but, yeah... wrote:

She's a great runner for sure, as are Cain and Wilson. FWIW, Cain is 16 months younger than Judd and exactly two years younger than Wilson. That doesn't ensure improvement of any kind for Cain over the next two years, but it does need to be considered when comparing these three runners.
I quote someone here, 'Remember a record is borrowed but a Gold medal is forever' A record will fall one day, a medal will remain'
Kenyan and Ethiopian (Black) runners have alway gotten prefence on Letsrun (including thefront page), you should know that VIPAM?
They (letsrun) may like Clain better but it's not because of "race". I have been coming here (Like you) for years and black distance runners (especially the men) get preferential treatment. Always have!
The Letsrun's crew dig, and search out news stories in africa that no one else is doing. They go way out of their way to cover black running news.
I think you are a Sh*t starter!
When it comes to their own, however, that's right...American runners, letsrunner swould rather talk about people like that PSU kid out of New Haven who has never won anything, or a kid who is front page today who didn't even make it out of the US trials or win a national championship in 4 years in the NCAA over a high schooler who wins a World Championship. When was the last time a US runner won a World Championship in a middle distance or Olympics in any event.
Wasn't there an American Negro who won convincingly in 2011
"Keep your mouth shut please..."
Classy!
"A Gold medal means your finish 1st.."
well thanks for clarifying that
Ajee Wilson has already won 2 World Championships medals (Youth and Juniors). With all the talent Mary Cain has it is not guranteed that she will ever win a medal.
Ajee 2:00.91 time is world class already and Mary Cain 4:11.01 with her great talent may become world class; however, you don't count your chicken til they hatch.
So right now Ajee is everything Mary with her amazing talent is striving to become in the future.
Justin Facts
Those are just the facts LOL and so true! Congrats to both young ladies but kudos to Ajee Wilson's Gold medal.

True .. but the post you quoted IS halfway down page 2 of the thread .. so you read pretty far before you stopped reading, and then posted, and then came back later to see who replied to you. :)
Why don't you stop being such a letsrunposteraphobic jerk!
Oops seems someone got upset because Ajee Wilson is a World Champion and mature posters are stating the obvious- she deserve more coverage the what appeared on Letsrun.
It's not that she was less deserving then the Mary Cain, the fact is the moderators of Letsrun and SOME of it's stupid posters are small minded when it comes to Americans of all races/colors.
Both were deserving but Ajee Wilson really didn't get the coverage on a prominently middle and distance fan based website for her Gold medal!
